Thai Marché bon appetit, a fabulous new addition to Pattaya’s restaurant scene. Diagonally opposite Terminal 21 it is part of Tiffany’s the Transvestite Cabaretwhich has been operating for 40 years.
Chic and sophisticated
The decor is quite brilliant, certainly as good as anything I have seen in Pattaya.
Thai Marché bon appetit, circular centre bar
Showing a selection of deserts & fruit juices.
A spectacular spiral sculpture.
Upon entering this upmarket cafe restaurant your eyes are immediately drawn to this fabulous spiral sculpture that stretches towards the ceiling.
This dish was absolutely superb, 10 out of 10.
Sadly I can’t remember exactly what it was called, just show the waitress this photo. 🙂
A very interesting taste, 9 out of 10.
My preference is usually 2 or 3 entrees rather that a large main meal, I’ll definitely be ordering this one again next visit.
Fresh spring rolls only B100 or $3 USD.
Quite tasty but the sauce was a little too spicy for me. 🙂
Mango cheesecake, YUM!
Rather small but well worth B95.
Thai Marché bon appetit
I’m a sucker for deserts, especially mango & sticky rice.
Open kitchen featuring all day snacks.
An ideal spot for coffee & cake any time of the day.
Part of the food preparation area
It’s always nice to be able to see the chefs at work.
I think I’ll be a regular here.
The restaurant along with Tiffany’s is part of the nearby Woodlands group.
My 2nd visit was as good as the first time.
Tried some different dishes & they were all excellent. Deep fried spring rolls with crab meat,
These dumplings were to die for. 🙂
What a fantastic colour. 🙂
Mango & sticky rice is an iconic Thai desert.
A wonderful way to finish a terrific lunch.
Chicken Satay
Very tasty & cooked to perfection.
Thai Marche & Tiffany’s
Right on 2nd Road Pattaya opposite Terminal 21. It will look a lot better once those ugly wires are put underground.
Hello welcome Pattaya Beach Rd Thailand, everybody who visits the beach side city will regularly hear this as they pass the many bars, shops & massage parlours. “Hello welcome” is probably the most repeated phrase in Thailand. 🙂
There is always something to see on Beach Road Pattaya, I’m so happy to wake up and see the wonderful view every day.
This post highlights the interesting things I see on Beach Road every day.
And here is my view
Is that magnificent or what?
Morning exercise on Beach Road
Most mornings I walk along Beach Road about 8 am, there is always something to photograph.
Above we have the healthy, below the not so healthy.
I have read many super models smoke to control their body weight, clearly in this case it has not worked. 🙂

It doesn’t get much better than this. 🙂
Safety first
Good to see these guys wearing crash helmets, too bad about the pedestrians on the footpath, let’s not forget “this is Thailand”.
My tyres are fatter than yours
Not too sure what the advantage is have fat tyres on a bicycle, unless you are a fat guy like me. 🙂
Your tyres aren’t fat, these are fat. 🙂
Big super blue boom box, block the footpath, no problem this is Thailand.
Sabai Wing Soi 1, 3 swimming pools and nice rooms, 100 meters from BigC, great value at only $23 usd per night as of August 15. I live in the high-rise in the background, Markland. For a great room rate book here.
Work stopped 18 months ago on this high rise due to a dispute over height and other regulations. Now in December 2016 they have been ordered to remove the top 8 floors and increase the car parking.

This is not a travel blog just my personal photo collection from the 2nd half of 2016.
Another birthday rolls around July 7.
Loving Pattaya life 2016
Loving Pattaya life 2016 has seen me spend all year here, the quietest travel year I have had this century. I over spent in the last 2 or 3 years so I thought I should pull my horns in. 🙂
I spent 5 days in Koh Samui in June, 2 weeks in Australia in August and a great trip to Japan in October.
Some of the usual suspects
Greg, Hamish & John helped me celebrate at the Mantra.
A year living in Pattaya seems like about 6 months, time just seems to fly.
Great beach shot August 4th at 7am
All the boats are waiting for the hordes of Chinese tourists.
And here they come in their thousands
The buses roll into Beach Road of a morning and the tourists flock to the boats.
Tony & Nikki Murphy at Signature Steak & Seafood.
The Murphy’s spent a week in Pattaya then 3 nights in Mae Pim before flying back to Australia.
Visitors from San Diego
It was great to catch up with Paul, Eileen, Parker & Elle in Pattaya as part of their 9 week Asian holiday with included Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Koh Samui, Koh Samet & Danang.
Seagulls in Pattaya?
Here is a sculpture on Beach Rd showing a flock of seagulls, yet to this day I have never seen a seagull in Pattaya. 🙂
Here comes the rain
I love seeing the black clouds roll in over Pattaya.
Steve is a great mate of Larry’s from the Gold Coast. Terrific news for movie goers which vastly overshadows the recent Brangelina bullshit, the “odd couple” Larry Krausz & Steven Reade have been signed by BangBros, the largest porn studio in the world, to star in a remake of the 1988 movie Twins, which stared Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. See if you can pick who will play DeVito. 🙂
The more thigs change the more they stay the same
After many years the Cherry bar on Soi 3 & 2nd Rd has been sold and is now Billabong 2.
When can we have some fun?
Every night you go out in Pattaya the fun starts.

Starbucks
Opened in September at the “Bay” which is between Soi 5 & 6 on Beach Rd.
Good coffee & happy staff
They are the first to open at the Bay, next will be McDonalds.
Stunning November sunset
So many great sunsets from my balcony.
My new home
On November 1st after 4.5 years I moved from the 17th floor in Markland to the 20th, does that mean I coming up in the world?
The usual suspects
Jim’s Burgers is a great place for a casual dinner with friends, I’m with Hamish, Jonathon & Matt.
Delicious
Lots of varieties & you can order small or large.
One of my massage girls
Used to be a waitress in Chamiko in Soi 3, now she works at a massage parlour in Soi 3 & sometimes gives me a reasonable foot massage.
Spectacular clouds over Koh Larn
These days I seem to be obsessed with taking photos of clouds & sunsets. 🙂
October in Japan
I m with my friend Kayo in a Spanish restaurant in Tokyo. I purchased a two week ticket on the Shinkansen or bullet train, then after 3 nights in Tokyo I travelled to 6 interesting Japanese cities, includung Kanazawa, Hiroshima, Kumamoto, Kagoshima, Nagasaki & Fukuoka.
I arrived back in Pattaya on Ocober 28th & the following day my good friend Larry Krausz was rushed to Bangkok Pattaya hospital after suffering a major stroke, now 5 weeks later on December 5th he is still in a serious condition in the intensive care ward.
Ross & Bryce arrive from Australia
The boys came over for a few days to visit Larry.
Centara Grand
After a couple of cold beers at Centara Grand and a Pattaya cop working security wanted to throw us out. I lay the blame 100% on Pothole aka John David Martin who was dressed like a local bum & showing off his silly tattoos. 🙂
Pothole & sons + Kayo.
Tate is Pothole’s eldest son, he arrived in Thailand from Australia to celebrate Xmas & to meet his 2 half brothers Tyrone & Tiger. Notice for some strange reason known only to Pothole, all his children including daughter Tamara have to have a first name starting with the letter T. Just another one of his many offbeat strange quirks. 🙂 The lovely Japanese girl in the photo is my friend Kayo from Tokyo.
Shopping for a dress in Soi 6
Even though Soi 6 is one of the wildest streets in Pattaya there is still time for some quiet shopping. 🙂

Farewell to an old friend
Larry Krausz, a friend for around 30 years suffered a major stroke on October 28. After 2 months in the Bangkok Pattaya hospital on life support he was transported to Australia by a hospital Leer jet, thanks to his Medibank travel insurance. After a month his life support was removed & he passed away peacefully.
It’s now 2017 and here is Glenn Frey to tell you exactly how I feel today.

Party Bar Pattaya had a re-opening Monday January 26 2015, a new partner bought into this little business so it was time to sing, dance and celebrate. So that’s what my friend Hamish & I did, minus the singing & dancing, we concentrated on drinking & checking out the pretty ladies.
Just a little corner bar
Located behind the Avenue shopping centre on 2nd road. Nothing too flash just a little corner bar where you can have a beer and watch the passing parade. In many ways people watching is why I also like the Cherry Bar on the corner of Soi 3 and 2nd road North Pattaya.
Party Bar Pattaya Lovely Noi
Noi has just become part owner of the Party bar, drop in sometime and say hello.
Surrounded by gorgeous creatures
What time can I start having fun?
Pretty ladies
Great smiles certainly brighten up the night.
Lovely cowgirl Kung
On this night all the girls wore cowgirl outfits and looked terrific, sadly now however they have reverted to normal clothes. It’s a shame really because any little back street beer bar needs to make sure customers remember them, so a point of difference that separates you from the thousands of similar places in Pattaya can only have a positive effect on the business. Walking street, LK Metro & Soi 6 have the passing traffic but most of the little back street bars don’t, so my message is loud & clear, dress the girls in the western outfits, they look terrific. 🙂
Not all Thai ladies are available in Pattaya for foreigners like myself merely because you have a few thousand Baht to burn on a night out. I was quite impressed by this gorgeous lady so I gave her my card and later in the week tried to arrange to meet her for a drink. To her credit she had too much style to be seen with a fat old Farang like me, so she made an excuse that she was sick. Good luck to you Yuie, stick with the younger cooler dudes. 🙂
Yuie likes to drink and dance.
More Sexy Thai girls dancing in Pattaya Party Bar
Never too young to party at the party bar.
This little guy was happy to be in the action.
Never too old either
Good luck to Party Bar Pattaya, I hope they have success, fun and make a lot of money.

Sexy Phuket LadyBoys & Thai girls when I was there with my friend John Sinclair in July 2005. This was only 6 months after the Tsunami disaster that took so many lives.
OK, lets start with the LadyBoys
Sexy Phuket LadyBoys & Thai girls, it is amazing how many transgenders there are in Thailand where society totally accepts them without question or prejudice. Kathoey or katoey is a Thai term that refers to either a transgender woman or an effeminate gay male in Thailand. While a significant number of Thais perceive kathoeys as belonging to a third gender, including many kathoeys themselves, others see them as either a kind of man or a kind of woman. Related phrases include sao (or phuying) praphet song (Thai: สาวประเภทสอง,”a second kind of woman”) and phet thi sam (Thai: เพศที่สาม, “third gender”). The word kathoey is of Khmer origin. It is most often rendered as ladyboy or lady boy in English conversation with Thais and this latter expression has become popular across South East Asia.
You are looking the wrong way John.
My friend John seems to be enjoying himself way too much. 🙂 Ladyboys really are quite prominent in Thailand and are seemingly accepted by society, not only in the cities but in the countrysides as well. It seems as though it is the relaxed attitude of acceptance and tolerance in Buddhism that keeps people from shunning their lifestyles, although many other Buddhist countries are not as willing to accept a ladyboy living their life in public. Thai Buddhism specifically does not regard homosexuality as a sin and has no specific prohibitions regarding their lifestyle. Though Kathoey continually face discrimination they are gaining acceptance and have made themselves a very distinct part of the Thai society; however, they still have not yet attained equal status with those who are not transgender. There are many restrictions that come with the identity, one being the inability to marry someone of the same sex, another not being able to officially change their birth sex on birth certificates or passports.
Now I’m really worried about him
Perhaps I should rush off and grab a bucket of cold water to throw on him, then again the LadyBoyswould probably beat me to death. 🙂
4 Non Blondes - What's Up (Official Music Video)
Lets move the emphasis to the female of the species
Thailand is famous for the girly bars, discos & pole dancing, you don’t have to go to Nana Plaza in Bangkok as the main street in Patong offers quite a large selection of places where you can get into all sorts of trouble.
The one on the left we nick-named the Bull-ant.
The one on the left we nick-named the Bull-ant because she was so feisty and confident, the girl on the right had a bandaged knee obviously due to falling off a motorbike which is a common occurrence in Thailand.
What, no smile?
This girl was absolutely gorgeous, and yes she did look so much better when she smiled.
Some big smiles here.
I think my friend John was asking a question here, “what time can we start having fun”?
And the answer is………right now big boy 🙂
Say no more.
What a beautiful face
This girl was a beautiful tourist from London so I bought her a couple of drinks just so I could gaze at that face for 30 minutes or so. 🙂
Bright lights in Patong
Not as much action as Walking St Pattaya, not not too bad.
This hotelis by far the best spot right on the beach in Patong.
We really need to have another look at “The Bull-Ant”
It’s very hard not to have fun in Thailand, thousands of beautiful are on hand to make sure you do. I actually live in Pattaya just south of Bangkok but I always enjoy visiting the islands, Phuket, Koh Samui & Koh Chang.
A typical Thai comment

Hua Hin popular resort combines the attractions of a modern holiday destination with the charm and fascination of a still active fishing port. While most other Thai holiday destinations cater mainly to foreign tourists, Hua Hin Thai resort is a holiday destination for foreigners and Thais.
Besides it’s great 5 mile long beach Hua Hin provides the highest density of world class golf courses anywhere in Thailand while it’s yet virtually undiscovered as an international Golf destination. Green-fees and other costs are currently among the lowest in the world while course maintenance and services are superb.

In 1928, the late King Rama VII built Klai Kangwon Palace which remains until this today an official royal residence. It is still frequently used by members of the royal family and is open to the public for visits.
Hua Hin Thai resort continued to develop in its own leisurely way, with the added attraction of an 18-hole golf course, and as a fishing port. The Railway Hotel, today’s Sofitel Central Hua Hin, was built by the State Railways of Thailand in 1923 in the architectural style of old Siam.
Many of Bangkok’s rich and famous built their own beachfront summer homes to the north and south along the curving sandy bay, enjoying leisurely family weekends in a resort which has maintained its unique identity.

Well known for my generosity, here I am pitching in and shoveling shrimps. 😆
As in 100,000 other Thai villages here is your quintessential night market, the goods on sales rarely vary too much. However everything is cheap and the food is fresh and authentic Thai.
Fresh seafood at the market.
Fresh seafood is always a good choice.

Once again we ordered too much. 😳
As usual we ordered way too much, I’m a big eater however Warren has the appetite of an ant so we could only get through about half of the food on the table.

Krabi beach resort Thailand is far more relaxed & lay back than many other Thai resorts. It seems to me the biggest % of tourists come from Scandinavia, consequently there are quite a few Swedish & Norwegian restaurants, which suits me fine as I love Skagen.
Lots of good restaurants in Krabi.
Krabi beach resort Southern Thailand is growing fast, in the last few years Tesco, HomePro, Big C have all opened and a new International hospital is in the final stages of construction. Krabi has a reputation of being a true Thai countryside location and with the now enlarged Krabi International airport is seen as the ideal balance between convenience and lifestyle. People are being drawn to Krabi in search of the idyllic beach life that Phuket and Koh Samui offered a decade ago but are in danger of losing as they get bigger. International residents are catered for, although on a smaller scale than Phuket, with regard to immigration services and English speaking staff in local government offices. Entertainment options are on the increase as are true International standard Hotels and attractions. To cater for the inward surge of potential residents, many real estate companies have emerged building high quality villas and homes specifically for foreigners.
Krabi beach resort Thailand massage huts.
Here in Krabi they really focus on Thai massages which are one of the world’s great pleasures for around $12 for two hours. That price was in 2013, sadly now with the AUD exchange rate it’s $18. Follow @David_Herd

Krabi beach resort Thailand in the southern province on the Andaman seaboard with perhaps the country’s oldest history of continued settlement. After dating stone tools, ancient colored pictures, beads, pottery and skeletal remains found in the province’s many cliffs and caves, it is thought that Krabi has been home to Homo Sapiens since the period 25,000 – 35,000 B.C. In recorded times it was called the ‘Ban Thai Samor’, and was one of twelve towns that used, before people were widely literate, the monkey for their standard. At that time, c. 1200 A.D., Krabi was tributary to the Kingdom of Ligor, a city on the Kra Peninsula’s east coast better known today as Nakhon Si Thammarat. (Thanks to Wikipedia)

The Ko Lanta National Park, also in Krabi province, includes several coral-fringed islands with well-known diving sites. The largest island, Ko Lanta Yai, is the site of park headquarters, and is also home to Chao Le, or sea gypsies who sustain themselves largely through fishing. The islands are best visited during the non-monsoon months of October through April.
The rock faces at Railay Beach near Ao Nang have attracted climbers from all over the world and each year are the venue for the Rock and Fire Festival. There are several Rock Climbing schools at Railay beach.

Koh Khai
Koh Khai is a group of famous tiny islands a 15 minute speedboat ride from Phuket’s east coast. There are 3 islands: Koh Khai Nai, Khai Nai Island and Koh Khai Nok, their names get a little confusing, especially once you know that ‘Koh’ means ‘Island’ in Thai.
