Siam Paragon Shopping Mall Bangkok opened about 15 years ago in 2006, I remember how impressed I was with this amazing new shopping mall with it’s wide aisles and fabulous food court and supermarket.
Now of course there are many new super malls in Bangkok to compete with including Central Embassy and EmQuartier.
Shops on the 1st floor
Here is a guide to some of the shops.
Siam Paragon, Hanging fences
Another photo taken way back in 2006 of the Siam Paragon, Hanging fences, I’m not sure if they are still there or not.
The Main floor
Strangely the level that is linked to the skywalk is called the Main Floor, despite it being one above the ground, and the floors above that are then the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, up to the 5th, which is taken up by the Cineplex and its 15 large size theatres. There is direct access to the centre from Siam BTS Skytrain station.
Siam Paragon is opposite MBK
Only 5 minutes walk on an elevated path from the well know MBK centre.
Busy Bangkok corner
BTS Skytrain
As I mentioned for Siam Paragon get of at Siam station, MBK is actually one stop further at National Stadium station.
One thing is for certain the Thai people love their food and there are plenty of options at Siam Paragon to keep them happy.
When I’m in Bangkok I like to stay in Sukhumvit Soi 11, here is an excellent budget hotel, if you USE THIS LINK you will get a great rate of around B1100 per night, or $30 USD.
Decisions decisions
The hard part is trying to decide where to eat, they all look so inviting.
This is the view from Horizons the amazing rooftop bar. A great five star hotel located opposte the beach & above the Central Festival shopping mall. Just book through THIS LINK for an excellent room rate.
Copacabana Rio de Janeiro is one of the world’s great beaches. This is my sixth visit to this fabulous city, my rented apartment is right across the road from the beach.
Copacabana Beach Rio de Janeiro, say no more.
These two look like they mean business.
Alan Austin and his wife Renata
Alan & I met in Rio and became very good friends, unfortunately the following year he ran into some problems with the English authorities and I now he lives in England.
It’s now 2018 & after 11.5 years as a guest of Her Majesty Alan will be a free man in August.
Shenanigans Ipanema
Monday nights here there are lots of specials and the place gets really crowded. The guy in the red shirt is Alan’s Las Vegas friend Jay.
Two dozen oysters = two days food poisoning
I was totally out of it for 48 hours after eating these oysters on the beach.
The Evil eye
The look on his face should have warned me about eating his oysters. He even had madman printed on his cap. 🙂
The girl from Copacabana
I was relaxing on the beach when this vision appeared in front of me. I have never been one to let a golden opportunity pass so I brushed up on my social skills and introduced myself. Her name was Mel and she came from neighbouring Niteroi. Lo & behold within an hour we were in my apartment making mad passionate love. This certainly was one on the best days of my trip. ?
Mel from Niteroi
Mel is around 6′ tall with amazing green eyes, a total knock out. It is 2015 and I still have her photo on a shelf in my condo. ?
How about those fabulous eyes?
I have to admit the fact that Mel spoke no English did not bother me at all. 🙂
John, an Aussie guy who owned “The Office” restaurant.
John was an Aussie guy from Sydney and we swapped many stories about people we knew and knew of, mainly well known Sydney gangsters. ? The following year John in fact was abducted by Brazilian gangsters who forced him to go to his home in Angra Dos Rios and pen his safe which they cleaned out.
Copacabana eye candy
One of the best locations on Earth for gorgeous females.
Late afternoon at Copacabana
Looking down from my apartment you can see the shadows staring to creep across the beach.
Kiosks on Copacabana
Every 50 meters along the beach there is a kiosk where you can buy a beer or a hamburger and watch the passing parade.
Copacabana Rio de Janeiro
Copacabana beach babes are among the sexiest girls in the world. My photo blogs with the most visits involve Brazilian babes so I thought I would add to the collection with samples from my 2 months in Rio from December 2007 to February 2008.
Making a splash
There is no better place in the world to see beautiful beach babes than Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro.
Nice hat
Hat, what hat, I don’t see a hat?
Now can you see a hat?
Is this a trick question? Who looks at hats on Copacabana beach?
The sea was angry that day my friends.
You don’t often see big waves at Copacabana but this particular day the surf was quite rough. In fact it was new years eve 2007 and Copacabana was preparing for a crowd of 2 million people.
Are you aware Brazil’s Primary colours are green and yellow? Just saying…………
Time for a lunch break
The prawns are very good however I was laid low for 48 hours after eating 2 dozen oysters on the beach. ?
Two pretty girls
All you need is a camera on Copacabana because the talent is unlimited. ?
Look closely you may see a tattoo
Tattoo? I don’t see a tattoo.
No tattoos here
A fabulous body like this does not need any tattoos.
Copacabana Rio de Janeiro
All my friends who know and love Rio will remember the wonderful times we had at “HELP” nightclub on Avenue Atlantica. Many thanks for visiting my Copacabana Rio de Janeiro photo blog, without any doubt in the world “you gotta love Rio”.
Melbas Gold Coast Legacy is a huge part of Surfers Paradise folklore. Here is my photo record spanning over 25 years showing my friends and I having fun at this iconic nightclub and bar in Surfers Paradise. In the early 80s it was also one of the best restaurants due to the expertise of owner/manager the late great Paul Allen.
My Melba’s three L scenario, Legends were made, Lies were told, Ladies were pursued. 🙂
This is not a travel blog just a personal photo collection from Surfers Paradise Australia.
New Years Eve 1990 Melbas Gold Coast Legacy
On the left is Tony Fazio who was manager at the time, now living in Perth I believe, on the right is Steve Jones one of the legendary bouncers who sadly passed away far too young, RIP.
Adam & Eve
I think her name was Amanda but don’t hold me to it. A cocktail waitress who was a very sexy lady.
Dinner before we hit Melbas
In those days there was a Japanese restaurant next door where I regularly had dinner before hitting the club. Melbas was only on the 2nd floor then, downstairs was all shops.
Paul’s son Dave Allen part of Melbas Gold Coast Legacy
Dave is a terrific guy, in 1990 he was working behind the bar, in later years he was General manager.
Another New Years Eve around 90/91
Harley Bradstreet one of my greatest long time friends, no Melba’s blog would be complete without him. For a while in the 90s he was actually one of the chefs there, it’s still unknown how many diners were rushed to hospital after eating one of his creations, forgive me mate I’m only joking.
A mutual friend of ours Southport solicitor Larry Wilson coined a famous phrase regarding Harley, he said “anyone can have a bad decade”. That really summed it up beautifully, I often used to refer to this great little guy as my own personal disaster area, but a nicer guy than you could never meet. Narrelle with the great smile worked behind the bar and was Tony Fazzio’s main squeeze at the time, a few years later I recall introducing her to her future husband, Jack Delanty, a one eyed Collingwood supporter from Melbourne.
July 7 1992
July 7 1992 was my birthday so naturally we celebrated at Melbas. Great friend Andre Buzek on the left was dentist on Chevron Island who was always offering cut price dental work to any sexy young lady who crossed his path. Sadly Andre lost his life in a car accident in Cuba about 4 or 5 years after this photo was taken.
Greg Johnstone on the right now lives in Thailand as I do, we occasionally have a beer together. At the back are Roger Williams and Len Jones, Roger went back to Adelaide and Len now lives in Sydney, the name of the girls eludes me.
A very happy bunch of people
The young guy at the back is Justin, another one of Paul Allen’s sons.
The legend himself in 1992
Paul was larger than life and ran Melbas with an iron fist. I originally met him when he was head waiter at Eliza’s restaurant in Cavil Avenue. Two of his customers financed Paul into Melbas around 1981, they saw potential in the way Paul interacted with customers and figured he could develop the best restaurant night club on the coast, they were right.
I vividly recall my first visit on January 1st 1982, we had a huge night on Sydney harbour on New Years Eve which ended at dawn, so on the spur of the moment we flew to the Gold Coast checked into St Tropez in Orchard and wound up at Melbas that evening.
At the start Melbas was 75% restaurant and 25% night club separated by a glass wall. Even though the restaurant was top class each passing year saw it get smaller and the nightclub bigger until it disappeared altogether.
January 1982 a couple of days after we arrived the party continued on the Gold Coast. The new sexy girl in the middle was “Kitty” a totally uninhibited Dutch girl who I knew from Sydney, but that’s another story. 🙂 Helen Burke on the right was soon to become my new girlfriend, in November 2014 I visited her at her winery at Dromana in the state of Victoria, my how time flies when you are having fun. The big guy is Graham La Roche aka “the Biff”, a legend in his own lunch time.
Lets jump forward to the year 2000
One of Paul Allen’s rules was to hire the best looking girls to work behind the bar, in my book the best of them all was Aurora. She is definitely part of Melbas Gold Coast Legacy.
The usual suspects Xmas 2000.
From the left we have Jim Bell, John Sinclair, David Herd and Tony Murphy. Jim rented a room in my home for 15 years from 1995. John moved to Thailand around 2001 and Tony still lives on the Gold Coast.
Xmas 2000 and Kerry Townsend-Smith was one of the head girls, I first met her when she was a waitress at the Boardroom, a well known Southport gentlemen’s club. From memory after Melbas she moved to Koi at Broadbeach, a lovely lady with a great personality.
A definite highlight in 2000
One of the most gorgeous ladies I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, Skye Edwards from Launceston.
Skye-Jilly Edwards (born c. 1972) is an Australian beauty pageant titleholder who won the Miss Globe International 1994 in Istanbul, Turkey and represented her country in the Miss World 1994 pageant in Sun City, South Africa. She was rated in the top 50 models in Australia by Ralph Magazine.
Perfect except for one small thing
Yes, Skye was a smoker, come to think of it so was I in 2000. I finally quit for good 2 years later.
Dean Martin Original Release LITTLE OLD WINE DRINKER ME
You could always guarantee the best eye candy on the coast would wind up at Melba’s on Melbourne cup day.

The Butterbean Brothers in 2005
Two legends in their own lunch time, the Butterbean brothers aka Larry Krausz & Ross Kennedy. Larry just moved to Pattaya on November 28 2015 and is now my neighbour. (Sadly our buddy Larry passed away in January 2017 after suffering a major stroke in Thailand October 28th 2016) Rossco originally from Melbourne where he sold hot dogs outside the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and is now a mover and shaker on the Gold Coast. He quit his holdings in Surfers Paradise strip clubs and restaurants to become the glass splash-back Kingof the Coast. We have a long & happy history together with the highlight being a legendary road tripto Sydney, Falls Creek & Melbourne in 1996. What an incredible year 1996 was, read all about it here.
December 2003 Xmas lunch.
Sadly two old friends in this photo have passed away. Second from the left Ron Collier died April 26 2012. I first met Ron in Melbourne in the 70s before he & Yvonne moved to Byron Bay, a great character who loved life to the max. Second on the left is Noel Smith a regular Melba’s customer who passed away in 2011.
Graham La Roche aka “The Biff”.
A true Aussie legend, I also met Graham in Melbourne in the 70s, as his nickname suggests he was a hell of a fighter. Fought with the famous Jimmy Sharman’s boxing troupethroughout Victoria in the 60s and was never defeated. Graham was on-board by boat in Sydney Harbour on New Years Eve 1981 when we got smashed by fireworks because I stupidly anchored in the drop zone, read about it here.
I think this beautiful lady was Maltese, I only wish I was 20 years younger and 4 times wealthier.
Melbourne Cup 2006.
Important evens were always celebrated at Melba’s, here I am with good friends David Robertson aka “Chocolates” and Phil Thomson aka “Baldrick“. Chocs was famous for the huge volume of “Forsters Light” he would consume daily while Baldrick was famous for……… nothing really. 🙂
Another terrific old friend who was a regular member of our Melba’s drinking crew. Also known as “Coupons” which he collects to swap for free stuff. 🙂
Another gorgeous staff member
Service with a smile.
2007, German and gorgeous.
Not only gorgeous but a sparkling personality as well. I can’t remember her unusual name, Zea or something like that.
Concentration plus
Keep that red wine flowing my dear. 🙂
2007 Alan Jones
Twice world Formula 1 champion, a true living legend if ever there was one. Pictured here with myself and well known Gold Coast sycophant David Hoskit.
My birthday 2008
As I said previously all important events were celebrated at Melbas. One of the clowns, I think it was Noodles decided I was old enough for a wheelchair. I can guarantee one thing for sure, Chocs would not have paid for that bottle of red, & everybody who knows him would agree with me. 🙂
Just so cute
It was 2009 and I think her name was Linda, another one of the super cute Melba’s bar staff.
Dani Tobin, a real wild child.
Over the 25 years of drinking at Melba’s I met some wild crazy ladies, and Dani certainly makes it into my top 10. I see her occasionally on Facebook and she seems to have quietened down a little little, hopefully we may catch up again one day. This photo is from 2009.
The usual suspects in 2008
We usually met around 5pm most days and left around 7 pm to sneak home dodging the breathalyzer.
2008 Drinks for my AFL tipping comp
I ran an Australian Rules tipping competition for around 10 years and Melba’s were one of our sponsors.
2009 AFL footy tipping dinner
Here is part of the mob at our end of year dinner in 2009.
Straight out of the Folies Bergère
Another gorgeous drink waitress who contributed to Melbas Gold Coast Legacy.
I’m including this song just because I like it.
It’s a happy song and for some strange reason it makes me think of all the happy times I had at Melba’s.
When and why did Lloyd become a legend you may well ask? Well sometime around the turn of the century Lloyd relocated his office from Bundall to 50 Cavil Avenue right next door to Melbas. I am sure that no other customer has ever spent more in this bar than Lloyd, for a start most days from 11 am he would conduct his business in the south east corner of the bar surrounded by various friends and associates. He would normally pull up stumps around 6 pm and head home to Main Beach.
One memorable evening around 2007 Lloyd was enjoying himself so much he stayed on much later until the place was jumping. The crowd in the bar at that time was several hundred, so without any fanfare he ordered 600 shooters at a cost of $5,000, guaranteeing his place in Melba’s on the Park folklore for evermore. It didn’t stop there, he followed up with another 600 to consolidate his legendary status. 🙂
Only a few days before making my huge life changing move to Thailand I started having farewell drinks at my favourite bar with my favourite friends.
My last visit November 2014
After my road trip from Adelaide to Melbourne along the Great Ocean Road I flew to the Gold Coastto catch up with friends and family. Phil Thomson and I kept alive our tradition of drinks at Melbas on Melbourne day.
Nothing changes
Here is a group of old friends in August 2017, still rocking on after all those years. 🙂
Copacabana beautiful beach babes are among the sexiest girls in the world. My photo blogs with the most visits involve Brazilian babes so I thought I would add to the collection with samples from my 2 months in Rio from December 2007 to February 2008.
Copacabana beautiful beach babes making a splash
There is no better place in the world to see beautiful beach babes than Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro.

Three hours from Rio and one of my favourite places in Brazil. I know they are not Copacabana beach babes however the girls from Paraty are worth a look.
New Years Eve 2007
It’s only 2 pm and the crowd is building in anticipation of celebrating the New Year.
Times Square New York City is one of the world’s most iconic locations. When I last visited in February 2008 I stayed at the Hotel Edison only 100 meters from Broadway.
For an excellent room rate just book through THIS LINK.
The fabulous Broadway shows
In seven days I saw five Broadway shows. My favourite was A Bronx Tale by Charles Palminteri, closely followed by August Osage County.
A Bronx Tale
A small theatre with one man on stage talking about his life, it was fantastic.
Times Square New York City
At night Times Square comes alive.
The song said it all
They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway…….
Alicia Keys - Empire State Of Mind (Part II) Broken Down LIVE @ AOL Sessions
M & M
Great colours and lots to see around Times Square.
Gallagher’s Steakhouse at 228 W 52nd St
Not quite Times Square but only a short walk away. Gallagher’s lived up to it’s reputation as being on of New York’s best steakhouses, in fact my Surf & Turf could have fed two people easily. I believe the restaurant was refurbished in 2014.
Times Square New York City
There are enough bars, restaurants and shows within a couple of blocks of Times Square to keep you occupied for weeks.
You gotta love New York
What a city, I often say to friends, if the cities of the world could be likened to a horse race, New York would win by 10 lengths over the next bunch of cities which would include Paris,London, Sydney,Bangkok,Tokyo, Rome, Rio De Janeiro & Cape Town, not necessarily in that order.
7th Avenue
One of my all time favourite photos, I call it “my boulevard of broken dreams.”
Thanks for visiting my Times Square New York City post
Please take a look at some of my other posts if you have the time.

Travel Tokyo Bangkok HCMC New York starting with Japan, I’ll list the 5 countries in alphabetical order rather than by personal preference. The photo above is Shabusen at the Ginza A terrific restaurant for Kobe beef, go at lunch time for special prices. Check out my first post in this series here.
The train system is fantastic, from Tokyo it’s a 40 minute trip to Yokohama or 3 h0urs by bullet train to beautiful Kyoto.
One square meter of land in the Ginza center is worth more than ten million yen (more than 100,000 US dollars), making it one of the most expensive real estate in Japan. It is where you can find the infamous $10 cups of coffee and where virtually every leading brand name in fashion and cosmetics has a presence. To me Tokyo is all about food, food and more food, interestingly the Michelin guide has Tokyo comfortably ahead ofParis(10 three-starred restaurants), New York (7) and London (2), with a total of 350 establishments making it into the guide this time around.
Kabukicho is an entertainment and red-light district in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Kabukicho is the location of many host and hostess clubs, love hotels, shops, restaurants, and nightclubs, and is often called the “Sleepless Town.” Make sure you check out my post called “Piss Alley”.
I don’t know any other person who has travelled more than I during the last 20 years. Perhaps I can provide you with a few ideas on where to go for your next holiday.
Thailand
I sold my home in Australia October 20th 2011 and have have been living in Thailand since then. My first trip to this great country was in 1980, however it wasn’t until 1997 when I started visiting 2 or 3 times each year. In the early days Koh Samui was a favourite destination, however in my opinion progress has not improved the island, it was far better before all the modern gold shops etc moved in. These days I prefer Koh Chang near the Cambodian border & of course Bangkok is fantasticwith so many great bars, restaurants & shopping malls.
Chiang Mai tiger warning, the sign could not have been clearer. It was placed a metre from the cage which was at the rear of the zoo away from the other tiger enclosures. It simply said “danger, don’t go past this sign”. Looking back I have done many stupid things in my life and this certainly ranks highly in the “stupidity stakes.”
Naturally I ignored the warning and moved past the sign and put my camera lens through the wire to get a clear shot of the magnificent beast sitting quietly in the pond two meters from my lens. Within one second of taking the photo there seemed to be an explosion in front of me and suddenly I jumped backwards totally soaked with water.
I could barely hear my brother’s raucous laughter from several meters away due to the rapid beating of my heart. The 240 kilo beast had lept from the pond and hit the wire full force with all his four giant paws. My luck held as did the wire, which without exaggeration saved me from being torn to pieces.
I e-mailed the tiger zoo and inquired about this particular tiger. They told me his name was Tone, he weighed 240 kilo and was far too dangerous to allow the public to get close, he was just used for breeding.
United Kingdom part of my Travel tips five great countries photo blog.
So many places to see & so much history. I travel there most years making London my base, then visit cities & towns all over the country either by train or car. Apart from London some of my favourite places are Brighton, Bath,Glasgow & Bradford on Avon. The photo above is Gold Hill is a steep cobbled street in the town of Shaftesbury in the English county of Dorset.
Travel tips. Great Britain has an excellent rail service, save up to 80% by booking your ticket before you arrive, just click here. London Underground’s Piccadilly Line provides the most cost-effective rail route between Heathrow Airport and the capital, so look for accommodation around Earl’s Court, Gloucester Rd or Knightsbridge. For more information click here.
United States of America
Another huge country offering everything from snow capped mountains to desert, beaches & exciting cities. New York of course is everyone’s favourite however hotel costs are so expensive. I really enjoy Miami with the wonderful Cuban influence, but I must say the last time I was in San Francisco I was quite disappointed by the high numbers of beggars on the city streets.
Car hire and internal flights are reasonably inexpensive. In Los Angeles I always stay in Santa Monica where I enjoy the restaurants and Venus beach.
Travel Tokyo Bangkok HCMC Vietnam
Ho Chi Minh Cityis Honda heaven, it is quite a shock when you see the number of motorbikes on the streets, crossing the road seems like a game of Russian roulette. My main memories of this wonderful country are the beautiful ladies and the terrific food. My first visit was twice in 2003 then 12 years later in January 2015. Halong Bay is a magical experience, make sure you stay overnight on one of the many boats, it’s an experience you will never forget. Vung Tau and Nha Trang are two of my favourites places in this great country.
Warning, when catching a taxi in Saigon stick with Vinasun or Mai Linh for clean honest low priced taxis. Many other companies are rip off merchants who will try to rob you.
Don’t under any circumstances use the company below.

Shibuya Chaotic Scramble Tokyo takes place at the famous intersection outside Shibuya Station. the traffic is stopped in all directions, which allows pedestrians to walk & scramble in every direction across the intersection.
Shibuya Chaotic Scramble Tokyo
The name “Shibuya” is also used to refer to the shopping district which surrounds Shibuya Station, one of Tokyo’s busiest railway stations. This area is known as one of the fashion centers of Japan, particularly for young people, and as a major nightlife area.
The masses collide 🙂
Shibuya Crossing is one of the busiest pedestrian crossings in the world. Shibuya Station is the third busiest station in Tokyo. The busiest in Tokyo and the world of course is Shinjuku.
Beautiful girls
You will see all different kinds of people and outfits in Shibuya, that’s why it’s one of my favourite places in Tokyo.
Fabulous faces in Shibuya
Tokyo is one of the world’s best cities for people watching.
Shibuya Scramble Tokyo
Something to see around every corner.
Tokyo fashion
Of course close to Shibuya on a Sunday morning you can also see the fabulous Harajuku girls.
Fabulous at night
They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway, but for me Tokyo is the neon capital of the world. The Ginza, Kabukicho and Shibuya are just three of the districts that will blow your mind.
Shibuya 109
Here is a popular shopping mall where the trendy Tokyo teenagers shop in more than 100 boutiques.
Dusk in Shibuya
The crowd seems to increase when the sun goes down and all the workers head for the shops, restaurants and bars.
Merry Xmas 2007
My first visit was December 2007 then March 2014 and I’m returning in September 2015 & October 2016..
Cool dude
I wonder what type of music he likes?
Shibuya Chaotic Scramble Tokyo
The specialty here is sweet, fluffy cheese tarts, with a gooey core that oozes out when you cut it open.
Shibuya hamburger
The food is one of the main attractions for me.
The Cellar Grill
One of my favourite restaurants is only a 15 minute walk from Shibuya station. Good food and a great atmosphere.
Wine at Cellar Grill
Thanks for visiting my Shibuya Chaotic Scramble Tokyo photoblog, I’m really looking forward to my next trip in September 2015, I’ll be staying at the Shibuya Granbell Hotel.
Harajuku Girls High Fashion Tokyo originated among teens on the streets near Harajuku Station in Shibuya, Japan. It may have been brought to many people’s attention by American singer Gwen Stefani, but the evolution of the style certainly didn’t begin with her and it certainly won’t end with her. Like many “street fashions” it is difficult to characterize because it is constantly changing and because it has many manifestations.
Very cute indeed
These photos were taken a few years ago, I believe now in 2016 there are not as many girls gathering here every Sunday.
Comparing notes
Mix and (mis)match different fashions. What is now known as Harajuku (like Halloween in Japan every Sunday) style started as teens in the district began to integrate traditional Japanese attire, especially kimonos and geta sandals, into their wardrobe. Before, they wore primarily clothes that were influenced by the West, but by mixing the traditional with the modern, they created a new style. Other examples of mixing and matching including the punk look with the schoolgirl uniform or a goth look with designer clothes. In Harajuku, mixing different styles and mismatching colours and patterns is encouraged – you can do anything you want, as long as your outfit is a thoughtful expression of your individuality.
Lots of style here
It’s impossible to pinpoint one “Harajuku style.” Many styles have originated or developed on the streets of Harajuku, and many Harajuku girls (and boys) integrate one or more of these somewhat more defined styles into their outfits.
Pink is my colour
Decora style favours bright colours, flamboyance and accessories from head to toe. You decorate yourself with plastic toys and jewelry, and it’s not uncommon to have so many that you can hear them click together when the person moves
Here I am
I just had to get a shot with the Harajuku Girls High Fashion Tokyo.
Love the purple hat
A beautiful Japanese face.
Lots of style this girl
A very interesting fashion statement.
Panda hat
A great hat & a nice tie.
Perhaps I’m a little confused
Don’t be worried what other people think of you. People might think your weird, Asian people might call you gaijin, but if you’re happy, don’t change for other people. Advice from this webpage.
Ah! What the heck
Many styles have originated or developed on the streets of Harajuku, and many Harajuku girls (and boys) integrate one or more of these somewhat more defined styles into their outfits.
Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens is a nice day out especially if you have children. A 30 minute drive from Pattaya and you can watch elephants play soccer.
Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens
Pisit and Nongnooch Tansacha purchased the 600-acre (2.4 km2) plot of land in 1954 with the intentions of developing the land as a fruit plantation. However, the owners instead decided to plant tropical flowers and plants as a wildlife conservation project. The garden opened to the public in 1980, and management was transferred to Pisit and Nongnooch’s son Kampon Tansacha in 2001. The garden currently fills 500 out of the 600 acres (2.4 km2).
No need to walk
If you are lazy like me just jump on a bus or an elephant.
Bus or elephant?
I thought my 110 kilo may have been too heavy for the poor elephant. 🙂
I still prefer the bus. 🙂
They are such magnificent animals.
Skinny legs
All sorts of bird life at Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens.
Are you looking at me punk?
Great colours on this guy.
He’s not looking at you but I am
There is lots to see and do at Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens
Up close and personal
The little guy is about to have a bath.
Time for a bath
He is loving every minute of being hosed down.
Thirsty work at Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens
Carrying people around all day is thirsty work, but this hose really hits the spot. 🙂

Dusit Thani Hotel Pattaya sits on a prime location on the headland in Pattaya with wonderful views of the Bay. Two nice pools and a good restaurant selection.
The gardens are huge and beautifully maintained as you would expect.
Hotel entrance
The hotel is on a huge property, in fact the Woman’s Thailand open tennis is held here every year.
Dusit Thani Hotel Pattaya
The hotel entrance is beside the Dolphin roundabout at the start of Naklua Rd where there are many good restaurants.
The 2nd pool
The pool area and others sections have just been upgraded. I often use this as a short cut when I walk to Wongamat as the pathway around the waterfront has collapsed.
Beach Rd view from the Dusit.
The building next to the Holiday Inn is Markland condos, I have lived on the 17th floor on the south side since 2011. In my opinion I have the best view in Pattaya.
Yum Cha at the Peak Restaurant
I am a regular customer here for their fantastic Yum Cha, the restaurant is quite hard to find, take the elevator near the pool to the 9th floor. The food is fantastic and the service is excellent.
Very sad to say the peak restaurant is closed permanently.
More of my favourite dishes
For a five star hotel the dim sum lunch is reasonably priced, about B550 for 5 baskets, plus the quality is exceptional.
Dusit Thani Hotel Pattaya is perched on the point
