Koh Samui busy main street runs parallel to Chaweng Beach and has hundreds of shops, restaurants & pubs. Central Festival is a huge new shopping mall with all to usual outlets. On the ground floor in this photo is my favourite restaurant The Wine Connection.

The shopping mall covers a huge area from Koh Samui main street to the back road beside the lake.

There is a food court, Starbucks, lots of restaurants, phone shops and all the fashion houses.

Solo

Solo is one of the many popular bars on Koh Samui main street.

Lots of massage parlours.

A one hour massage is around B300 however you can find them as low as B200 if you look around.

Entrance to all the beach-side hotels is from the Koh Samui main street, here is where I usually stay at the Baan Chaweng. The location is perfect, for an excellent room rate just book through THIS LINK.

LadyBoy show

Thailand is famous for it’s LadyBoy shows and Samui is no different. If that’s what you want to see then Starz is the place to go.

Lots of fresh seafood

There are many restaurants offering fresh seafood all along Koh Samui main street.

All these sports pubs have multiple screens showing sport from all over the world.

No more overhead wires in Chaweng

A step in the right direction, sadly however Samui is like a ghost town in June 2021 due to Covid-19.

As you can see Chaweng Beach is only 15 minutes from the airport. Be careful when organising transport to & from your hotel, the majority of people will overcharge you. For instance our hotel told us a taxi would cost B200 for one person and B300 for two people, how ridiculous is that?

Navigo Samui is a new company offering a very fair price, B200 for a taxi, you can download their app here.

I think Samui airport is the nicest airport I have ever flown to or from.

We took a 4 hour taxi ride around Koh Samui at a cost of B2000, it was a great way to explore the delights of this wonderful tropical island, we had a very nice lady driver, her name in Ying and her mobile is 09 1128 3867. Check out some of the great things to see, just follow THIS LINK.

Thailand street vendors sell everything

Thailand street vendors sell everything, they are really just mobile shops offering a huge variety of goods for sale. Many are constantly changing location as they don’t have the required licence to operate their business.

Soft drinks & fresh fruit

As you can see many are motorised while others push their heavy loads. They all however have one thing in common, a “work ethic” as there is no social security to help out in Thailand.

Generally is costs between 20 & 40 Baht or 50 cents to $1 usd for a meal.

Fruit smoothie

A healthy fresh fruit smoothie for only 75 cents.

A piece of fried chicken for 50 cents.

Tastes every bit as good as KFC but cheaper. 🙂

Banana pancake is my favourite street food.

This is truly a taste to die for and only 40 Baht.

Outside my condo

Four or five mobile vendors plying their trade each night outside my condo. They pack up and leave very quickly if the police arrive.

Thailand amazing street food culture is a great way to eat, very cheap and lots of choices. This market in 2nd rd North Pattaya is only 5 minutes walk from my condo.

Prawns & scallops.

Really well cooked fresh food, these two dishes cost me 300 Baht or $10.

So many decisions to make. 🙄

The Thai people have taken street cooking to an art form. Most Thai’s in fact eat out on the street rather than cook at home.

Fantastic ribs

These pork ribs are so good they are addictive. 150 Baht per rack and I always take a couple home to snack on the following day.

Thailand street & market food would not be complete without Pad Thai, probably the most popular Thai dish worldwide, 100 Baht or $3 at the Pattaya 2nd rd market, & delicious.

There are always one or two bars in every market so you won’t go thirsty. 😆

Order your food, grab a table and wait a few minutes while you watch the passing parade.

Banana Pancake, YUM!

This is one of my favourite snacks, 30 Baht or $1, great value & a great taste. Thailand street food at it’s best.

Perhaps bugs are more your style?

Thailand street food comes in all forms however I must admit I still can’t convince myself to eat bugs or insects.

The pig arrives on a bike.

Each night outside my local bar in Soi 3 North Pattaya the pig arrives on a motorbike.

I’m fairly sure most Thai people have their taste buds removed at an early age, some of these dishes are so spicy Self-immolation can start within 3 seconds of your first mouth full. 😳

Book your hotel through AGODA for a great deal.

Fresh fish at Naklua market

The girls at the market will kill , clean & gut fish while you wait.

Car park dining in 2nd rd beside Alcazar.

Great food served here for lunch & dinner. The only downside at night are the exhaust fumes from the dozens of busses leaving the car park.

Street seafood, delicious.

Lots of seafood in Koh Larn which is a 30 Baht, 30 minute ferry ride from Pattaya.

BBQ fish, calamari & prawns.

Is it any wonder Thailand street food is famous throughout the world? In Thailand street & market food is everywhere so you don’t have to walk too far for dinner.
