Sensational life Sydney 1983

Sensational life Sydney 1983 is no exaggeration, in fact the 80s was probably my favourite decade. A harbour side condo with my Bertram cruiser moored outside, my very own liquor store & a white Mercedes Sports.

Above are two of my best friends at the time, Wolf Wottke & Ross Ansell, we spent a lot of time in my boat on Sydney harbour & lunching at Doyle’s on the beach at Watson’s Bay.

Sydenham Cellars

Located in Unwins Bridge Road next to the railway station. I opened it in 1980 & sold it in 1984 with a tax loss of $150,000. Luckily I owned the freehold which showed a profit of $180,000 which was tax free. That’s Madison sitting at the front door. 🙂

Boats, babes & booze

What more could a man want in life. 🙂 I feel so lucky having the fabulous life I had in the 80s, + lucky I was always a photo fanatic, & have thousands of shots to display on my photo blogs.

The start of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race, we used to follow the boats out to sea.

Peak Avenue Surfers Paradise

Here I am in the middle of a plethora of gorgeous, where else would I rather be?

Always lots of parties in Peak Ave Main Beach.

Judy was tangled up in a messy court case in 1952 when her husband Bobby Lulham was poisoned by his mother-in-law.

A few days in Melbourne

Ross Ansell with his 2 daughters Tanya & Fiona, Marlene Cuthbert & I stayed at Ross’s pub in Curzon St North Melbourne.

I lived in Wrights Rd Drummoyne for 6 years from 1979, & wow! Diddn’t we have some parties there. Here I am with Dirk Kammerling, aka Dirk Suave.

It seemed like the end of an era, meet Karen Smith who became my 3rd & final fiancee, we moved to 31 Herbert Avenue Newport & parted 3 years later. So I packed up my belongings & moved to Surfers Paradise. 🙂

Sydney landmarks harbour bridge were on my agenda when I spent a couple of days in Sydney in 2005. This was my first stop on an exciting around the world trip to San Francisco, Miami, Rio de Janeiro for Carnival, north East coast of Brazil, Paris, Bangkok and Pattaya.

The magnificent Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge are two of the most recognisable structures in the world.

ANZAC War Memorial in Hyde Park

Looking down from Centrepoint Tower at the Anzac memorial, lest we forget.

Located in Hyde Park it was opened on 24 November 1934 to commemorate world war one Australian military personnel who lost their lives.

Circular Quay is a focal point for many Sydney celebrations throughout the year.

Designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon, the facility formally opened on 20 October 1973 after a gestation beginning with Utzon’s 1957 selection as winner of an international design competition. The NSW Government, led by Premier Joseph Cahill, authorised work to begin in 1958, with Utzon directing construction. Doyles at Watsons Bay

Certainly one of Sydney’s well known landmarks, world famous for the fish & chips.

Doyles in 1981.

This was Doyles 32 years ago in 1981. On this original site, Doyles opened Australia’s first seafood restaurant in 1885. The restaurant has been family owned and operated for over five generations. With both indoor and outdoor dining, Doyles is located right on the foreshore of Watsons Bay overlooking the magnificent panorama of Sydney Harbour.

Here I am at Doyles with Helen Burke, my girlfriend at the time, enjoying one of our countless lunches on beautiful Sydney Harbour. Who said nostalgia was a thing of the past?

The old Darlington school.

Here is a lovely building most Sydney people would not know existed. It’s a fine example of a single story Gothic Revival style suburban schools designed by the Architect to the Council of Education: George Allen Mansfield. An important public building of the former suburb of Darlington, the smallest municipality in Sydney.
