Happy Trails Volume Two

April 29, 2018 by David Herd

As Satchmo would say, what a wonderful world.

Happy Trails Volume Two

Happy Trails Volume Two

Happy Trails Volume Two is a photo records of some wonderful locations I have been fortunate enough to visit. Producing these photos blogs allows me to re-live many great experiences that I have enjoyed during my long happy life.

The first photo in Volume one was taken in New York so as it’s my favourite city I start again with the Big Apple.

North Coast of Brazil

Happy Trails Volume Two

You have probably never heard of Canoa Quebrada, it’s 164 kilometers from Fortaleza. We travelled along the beautiful long beaches and wandered through the amazing coloured sands.

Balneário Camboriú

Been There Done That

Balneário Camboriú is a major beach resort in the Brazilian southern state of Santa Catarina.

Where are those places?

Happy Trails Volume Two

Here is a map to show you where they are. 🙂

Tiananmen Square Beijing

Been There Done That

Beijing is a fascinating city full of history and wonderful breathtaking palaces, parks and buildings, and the food, well the food, Peking or should I say Beijing duck is to die for. Not to mention all of the other wonderful cuisines available, even though half the time you don’t know what you are eating. Having said that I must admit the best Peking duck I have ever eaten was the previous week in Shanghai, but that’s another story.

Happy Trails Volume Two include Sofitel Hotel Bangkok

Loved Every Minute

L’Appart restaurant at the recently opened Sofitel is a delightful multi-faceted venue occupying the entire 32nd top floor of the hotel tower.

 Nha Trang in Vietnam

Loved Every Minute

All the fishing boats are painted blue, they really look terrific, then again I really like boats. I even found some boat yards where they were repairing and refurbishing some older boats. Constructed from solid timber and designed to handle the rough seas in the monsoon season.

Café A Brasileira in Lisbon

Been There Done That

The A Brasileira was opened by Adriano Telles on 19 November 1905 at No.122 (an old shirt shop), to sell “genuine Brazilian coffee” from the State of Minas Gerais, a product generally unappreciated in homes of Lisboetas of that period.

Now I wonder where this is? 🙂

Been There Done That

The Tower Bridge is certainly one of the most recognizable structures in the world.

Happy Trails Volume Two includes the girl from Ipanema

Been There Done That

I’m at the Garrota de Ipanema restaurant where the song was written. It was inspired by Heloísa Eneida Menezes Paes Pinto (now known as Helô Pinheiro), a seventeen-year-old girl living on Montenegro Street in Ipanema. Daily, she would stroll past the Veloso bar-café, not just to the beach (“each day when she walks to the sea”), but in the everyday course of her life. She would sometimes enter the bar to buy cigarettes for her mother and leave to the sound of wolf-whistles. In the winter of 1962, the composers saw the girl pass by the bar.

Here she is.

Happy Trails Volume Two

The song became so popular, she  became a celebrity.

Iguazu Falls Brazil

Been There Done That

I’m on the Brazilian side, a walkway along the canyon has an extension to the lower base of Devil’s Throat.

Big crowd at Harajuku Tokyo

Happy Trails Volume Two

It’s Sunday morning & the crowds are huge, Harajuku is renowned for its colorful street art and fashion scene, with quirky vintage clothing stores and cosplay shops along Takeshita Street,

Many come to see the Harajuku girls.

Happy Trails Volume Two

Harajuku girls the term used to describe Japanese youth culture who cos-play or ‘costume play’ on Sundays in the district of Harajuku. Seen as rebels to conformity, Harajuku is a popular place for them to show off their own creations and usually pose for others. Styles include Gothic, Lolita, anime/manga based or futuristic.

Small creek leading to the Mekong River in Vietnam.

Loved Every Minute

You are probably wondering why I don’t wear the rather stylish hat more often, I tend to save it till I’m on Safari. 🙂

Somewhere in the Simpson desert in Australia.

Loved Every Minute

It can get lonely out here, luckily I was with 3 delightful Japanese girls who I took on an epic road trip.

Istanbul Turkey

Loved Every Minute

Great fish meal beside the mighty Bosphorus river.

Thailand Beach Cam Pattaya

March 21, 2018 by David Herd

Thailand Beach Cam Pattaya

Thailand Beach Cam Pattaya often won’t work on some mobiles such as the iPhone, use this link if there is a problem.

https://www.earthcam.com/world/thailand/pattaya/?cam=pattaya

Click bottom right hand corner for full screen.

Thailand Beach Cam Pattaya is the number one webcam in South East Asia, perhaps even the Universe. 🙂

You can zoom, & e-mail the link to your friends, I hope you enjoy the view.

Pattaya is a city in Thailand, a beach resort popular with tourists and expatriates. It is located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand, about 100 kilometres (62 mi) southeast of Bangkok. Back in the 60s it was a sleepy fishing village before it was discovered by the U.S. military personal on leave from the Vietnam war. Then through out the 1970s it really took off when Europeans, Australians & Americans started pouring in for their annual holidays.

Bookmark Thailand Beach Cam Pattaya so you can check out the view, traffic or weather anytime you wish.

In partnership with EarthCam

I am extremely happy to be associated with EarthCam who hold the #1 Google organic-search placing for “Live Webcam”. There are  around 9 Million Visits to the EarthCam site over an average 90 day period.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

February 24, 2018 by David Herd

Shifting whispering sands of Pattaya

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project has restarted again after many delays. The photo above shows low tide at the beach in 2013. The Dusit Thani hotel is on the point.

2013 beside the Dusit

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

There was a pathway leading to Wongamat around the rock wall, it collapsed over the next couple of years.

Not a very successful solution

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

The experts decided to add sandbags in 2014, as you can clearly see it was not a good idea.

The beach is quite narrow at high tide.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

Not much beach at all at the northern end.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project beginning of February 2018

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

Work begins at last after 2 or 3 years of promises.

Let’s fix up this beach.

I’m guessing work will take at least a year.

Sand is pumped through this pipe.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

The dredge offshore will pump sand through this pipe to begin the process of widening the beach.

More sandbags

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

I have no idea what use these sandbags are when they are pumping sand from the middle of the bay.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project February 17 2018

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

The beach is definitely is definitely expanding.

February 20 shows some real progress

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

Things are really starting to happen, soon we may have a nice wide beach. 🙂

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project March 5th, slow progress.

https://fivestarvagabond.com/pattaya-beach-restoration-project/

Last week work stopped for 2 or 3 days, thankfully it has started again.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project February 24th

It’s all happening here in Pattaya folks.

March 14, two diggers on the job.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

Not too sure why they build sand hills & dig lagoons however they are making progress as you can see.

March 28

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

Big changes at Dusit rock wall.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project March 28.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

We are starting to see some real progress.

The mystery has been revealed.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

For weeks I have wondered why they were digging lagoons now I know. They are laying sand bags before covering with sand. The bags of course will provide a solid base that the tide can’t move.

Working like beavers on April 5th.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

As you can see they are really moving a lot of sand.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project April 11

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

Four machines still moving sand.

April 12 & work almost stops for Songkran.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

Most of the workers head home to the country for Songkran celebrations.

Sandbags on the Beach April 21

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

Work is in full swing again after Songkran.

The Dusit Thani Hotel May 2nd

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project started in front of the Dusit Thani hotel.

May 5th & it’s full steam ahead.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

A local newspaper reported this week that the project would be completed by August 2018, personally I think it will be more like 2019. 🙂

Pumping sand

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

In comes the sand from the offshore dredge.

May 16 & the focus has moved to the north end.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

I wish I could understand the reason behind the sandcastles. 🙂

Very low tide on May 17

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

Notice how far offshore they are laying sand bags.

A mystery…….

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

Where do all the bags come from, are they filled by the excavators of trucked in?

You can see how low the tide is.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

A great view of Pattaya Beach from the Dusit Hotel.

June 18

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

Work is focusing around the point.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

At least they are still hard at it. 🙂

Phase 2 July 13 2018.

Pattaya Beach restoration July 13 2018.

Work in progress, more to follow.

Houston, we have a problem.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

July 26 after a fair bit of rain in the last 2 weeks.

Storm damage August 4th

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

All the knockers will sit back as say “I told you so”. However I don’t think you can ever stop the storm water rushing down Pattaya Nua, + nearby Soi 1 & others that slope towards the sea.  Just accept the fact ongoing maintenance is required after every heavy downpour & don’t get your knickers in a knot. 🙂

August 10 2018

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

The Pattaya Beach Restoration Project has reached Soi 6 with about 75% of the beach to go.

Lets put it in perspective

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

It’s a long way before they reach Walking St.

August 29 2018

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

They really seem to be making progress.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

Lots of heavy equipment on the job.

Certainly making progress

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

October 11 2018 & they are now beyond Pattaya Klang or Center Road.

Heavy rains in September & October.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

Damage is inevitable at the bottom of Soi 6 but to their credit they repaired it 2 or 3 weeks later.

November 1 2018 & the work continues.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

They have said the job will be complete by the end of the year but I seriously doubt it.

What are these strange things I hear you ask?

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

They are to assist with draining off the water during a storm.

 Inserted vertically

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

We will have to wait for the wet season to see how effective they are.

Only small sections of the beach.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

I’m not convinced there will be enough in place to be totally effective.

Rock breakwater at north end.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

Lets hope these rocks will do the trick.

Covering the rocks with wire mesh

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

OK, so I’m a little confused regarding to overall plan here. 🙂 So lets give them the benefit of doubt & just wait & see.

The end result is worth all the effort.

Pattaya Beach Restoration Project

What a difference to a year ago, well done Pattaya.

Shakariki 432 Japanese restaurantsIs it any wonder this is now one of my favourite restaurants along with Genki in Soi 4 North Pattaya.

Is there a better beer than Asahi?

Shakariki 432 Japanese restaurants

I don’t think so, the Belgium beers are great but my pick is Asahi. 🙂

Fabulous colour combination

Interesting travel suggestions

Secret cities worth visiting

Secret cities worth visitingSecret cities worth visiting, well actually they are not all cities & not all secret, but they are all worth visiting. These are places mostly off the beaten track, places that many people may not have heard of.

Above is The lovely French village of Breil-sur-Roya which is particularly known for trout fishing. The Roya river runs through town and is open to trout anglers from March to September. Located in the mountains near the Italian border just north of the French Riviera.

Breil-sur-Roya

Secret cities worth visiting French and Italian rail lines run through Breil so it is very easy to travel anywhere. There is a great market every Friday at Ventimiglia on the border 30 minutes drive or 20 minutes by train from Breil.

Talking about Italy

Secret cities worth visiting In the Middle Ages and Renaissance era, San Gimignano was a stopping point for Catholic pilgrims on their way to Rome and the Vatican, as it sits on the medieval Via Francigena.  The city’s development was also improved by the trade of agricultural products from the fertile neighbouring hills, in particular saffron, used in both cooking and dyeing cloth and Vernaccia wine, said to inspire popes and poets.

Secret cities worth visiting include San Gimignano

Secret cities worth visiting

San Gimignano is famous for its Medieval village architecture, unique in the preservation of about a dozen of its tower houses, which, with its hilltop setting and encircling walls form “an unforgettable skyline”

Have you ever heard of Florianopolis?

Secret cities worth visitingMost people outside of South America have not heard of this fabulous city which currently has an estimated population of 420,000 people. The Greater Florianopolis Metro area is home to about 1 million people. Florianopolis is a wonderful Brazilian city which should go on the bucket list for anyone intending to visit this wonderful country.

Friendly people who love to party.

Secret cities worth visitingJanuary 11, 2009. Newsweek placed Florianópolis in the “Ten most dynamic cities of the world” list in 2006. Veja magazine, a Brazilian publication, named the city as “the best place to live in Brazil.

 Kagoshima Japan

290c6fab-610c-4e33-bfce-51e4a16f12cb (1) Active Volcano Kagoshima Japan Sakurajima had been peaceful since 2013 until July 2016, then suddenly plumes of smoke, cracks of lighting and a flow of lava came bellowing out of Japan’s Mount Sakruajima in July 2016. Located in a scenic bay on the southern island of Kyushu, this 1,117 meter high volcano has been a sleeping giant for the past three years prior to this fiery spectacle. The incident took place at 12:02 am on Tuesday at the mountain’s Showa crater, which resulted in a 5,000 meter high column of ash – but officials say no fatalities have been reported. Fabulous food

37214528876_fe8ca2eb4c_cOne of the many reasons I visit Japan often is the fabulous food. A village near the railway station is called Kagomma Furusato Yataimura. There are about 25 small restaurants that seat only 8 or 10 people.

 Forster Tuncurry east coast Australia

51d2bd0e-6c11-4969-a12f-3da1f7c61000 A population of over 18,000 people it is a holiday destination for many Sydney people who are only a 4 hour drive away.

A great area for fishing & boating.

Secret cities worth visiting

At the Northern tip of the Great Lakes, these twin towns are where Wallis Lake meets the ocean. The twin townships are surrounded by National Parks and feature majestic headlands and long secluded beaches. Boating, fishing, diving, paddling, cruises, whale watching and coastal walks combine with galleries, unique shopping and award-winning restaurants to create an experience rich coastal destination.

Mae Pim Gulf of Thailand

Secret cities worth visiting  Thailand Beach Resort Mae Pim on the gulf of Thailand is only ninety minutes by car east of Pattaya, and 2 hours south of Bangkok. Beautiful white sand and clean water, and so quiet and peaceful.

Surfers Paradise Party Animals 1992

January 15, 2018 by David Herd

This is not a travel blog, it is part of my personal photo history. It seemed like Groundhog day. 🙂

Surfers Paradise Party Animals

Surfers Paradise Party Animals

Surfers Paradise Party Animals, 1992 was just another year of fun & games on the beautiful Gold Coast. I was certainly among the main party hosts, I had a great home for entertaining & I loved have lots of beautiful girls around.

Some of the usual suspects.

Surfers Paradise Party AnimalsNaturally when there were pretty girls around the competition between the guys was fierce. 🙂

A rose between two thorns, I don’t think so. 🙂

Surfers Paradise Party AnimalsI guess there is no need to say I was enjoying life to the max.

Occasionally some of the girls would relax in the spa.

Surfers Paradise Party AnimalsNaturally I always had my camera ready.

These girls loved nature

Surfers Paradise Party AnimalsAnd Dr Evil was always there with the camera. 🙂

Roslyn & Jill looking good

Surfers Paradise Party AnimalsI remember spending some “quality time” with both these lovely ladies.

 Jill & Sharon

Surfers Paradise Party AnimalsAnother “daily double” I’m happy to say, (that just means I bonked them both. 🙂 )we saw a show that night at Jupiters casino, I think it was Barry Humphries.

Andre Buzek dentist extraordinaire, (I don’t think so)

Surfers Paradise Party AnimalsSadly my great mate lost his life soon after in a car crash in Cuba.

Girl of the year Kelly Davis

Surfers Paradise Party Animals I was lucky enough to spend a few months on & off with this lovely lady.

Here we are on New Years Eve

Surfers Paradise Party AnimalsNaturally Harley is locked & loaded once again. 🙂

My favoute song from 1992

Big Steve Bristow (son of Tim) & Greg Johnston.

Surfers Paradise Party AnimalsNow in 2018 Greg lives in Pattaya & runs a bar on the dark side, & Steve still lives on the Gold Coast.

 Birthday drinks at Melbas 7-7-92

Surfers Paradise Party AnimalsOur local drinking hole was Melbas on the Park.

Mister Melbas himself.

PaulAllen1992 (1)

The late great Paul Allen, a Surfers Paradise icon.

Talking about icons…………

Surfers Paradise Party AnimalsDaryl Beattie is a former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer, those bikes however all belonged to  Mick Doohan the living legend who won five consecutive 500 cc World Championships. The guy in the middle is a legend in his own lunch time, my good mate Ross Kennedy aka “Shoeless Joe”.

 Talking about legends…

Surfers Paradise Party AnimalsHere I am giving my boat a good wash. 🙂

A good looking bunch of babes

Surfers Paradise Party AnimalsIt was Xmas day 1992 and we all had a great lunch at my home in 106 Upton St Bundall.  My main squeeze at the time was Kelly 2nd from the right, & my occasional squeeze was Jill standing beside her. 🙂

Another night another dinner at Upton St

Surfers Paradise Party AnimalsHarley & his gay flatmate naturally came dressed in their army outfits. 🙂 Tat’s Kandice on the left & Nicola on the right.

That night produced one of my favourite photos

Surfers Paradise lifeThis is a true classic.

Another classic from 1992

Surfers Paradise Party AnimalsLyn Goss & Roslyn provided the glamour & Tony Murphy & I contributed with a truck load of style. 🙂

Can’t remember the other guys name.

Newport-peninsular-Sydney

Newport peninsular Sydney Home 1984

June 30, 2016 by David Herd

Newport peninsular Sydney is my personal photo history not part of my travel blog.

Newport peninsular Sydney

Newport peninsular Sydney was my home for three years from 1984 to 1987. After becoming engaged to a beautiful Melbourne lady Karen Smith, I purchased a timber home perched on a hill above the Royal Motor Yacht Club. The cost was $128k, and I sold it after our engagement fizzled out 4 years later for $360K. I guess it would be worth nearly 2 million dollars today.

Absolutely gorgeous.

As you can see Karen was a beautiful lady, it took me anther 10 years before I realised I was just not cut out for marriage or long term relationships. There is probably a multitude of reasons why, fear of commitment, too independent etc etc.

Dinner party at Herbert Avenue

We were very happy at Newport 80% of the time, I tried hard to settle down and enjoy life as a couple, every now and then however the “call of the wild” would interrupt our utopia.

Wolf Wottke (with the beard) had been my best friend for a number of years, I left him renting my Drummoyne apartment for a year or so until I got fed up chasing the rent. Consequently I sold it which in hindsight was probably a mistake.

Lots of birds & wildlife

These beautiful Rainbow Lorikeets would visit every day for their snack on the balcony.

Life was very good

I had all the toys, a beautiful Mercedes Sports, a cabin cruiser moored at the yacht club, a liquor store in Sydenham which I was in the process of selling and a good sales job with Canon Australia.

Lion Island

This great photo (excuse the quality) was taken on Lion Island in the Hawksbury River, from left to right we have Graham La Roche aka “Biff”, his girlfriend at the time Mona, Ross Ansell from Melbourne and Karen Smith & I.

Me Tarzan

Ross doing his Tarzan impersonation on Lion Island.

31 Herbert Avenue Newport

About 25 years later around 2012 I paid a visit to Herbert Avenue to see if things had changed. Apart from the colour scheme and far less vegetation nothing much had changed.

 Another day on Pittwater

My good friend Tony Murphy and his beautiful wife Inge join Karen & I on my 26 foot cabin cruiser. After 29 years I caught up with Inge in Melbourne in 2014.

My back veranda overlooked Bayview

Here is my good friend Paul Slaughter with two gorgeous girls, on the left is Trish and on the right an old girlfriend of mine Shirley.

Big Tim Bristow, dinner at Herbert Avenue.

Tim Bristow was a friend of mine dating back from the time we met in 1971 when he was on my tail to give me a hiding, but that’s another story just follow THIS LINK. In the 70s just the name Tim Bristow struck fear into the heart of all those who knew him, an enforcer with a reputation of being one of the most brutal street fighters in Australia. Put simply he was legend, a bouncer at the Newport Arms hotel, would be contenders for his crown would travel from all over Sydney to try their luck, many came and all of them were sent packing battered and bruised.

 Sydenham Cellars

I sold my liquor store in late 1984 which took the pressure off me. I had been working with Canon for a few months and travelling to Sydenham (a one hour drive each way) at weekends to work in the liquor store. Meanwhile I dug a wine cellar underneath my Newport home and stored a huge amount of wine that I took home from the shop.

Unwins Bridge Road

That’s Madison my beautiful 4 year old German Shepherd who used to diligently guard the store overnight.

Brian Millard on Newport peninsular Sydney

Brian was a boat broker at Newport and a regular drinker at the Newport Arms hotel. He lived just up the road at Bungan Beach before moving to Noosa where I believe he still resides.

Richard on the left and Rob Carnahan

Two very nice guys who were customers of mine when I was with Canon. Their office was opposites the Oaks Hotel in Neutral Bay so more often than not we would meet in the pub. 🙂

A bunch of my nephews & nieces come to visit.

Amazing seeing these old photos, all of these cute kids now have children of their own.

Sue and John Heatherington

A lovely couple who lived in the next street from us, John also worked at Canon in the computer division.

Malaysia 1985

John & Sue, Karen & I went on a Canon conference to Penang, here we are driving from Penang to Singapore via Kuala Lumpur.

Singapore Xmas 1985

Here we are in Singapore, notice the cigarette. I smoke on and off for most of my life until 2003. Usually 2 or 3 years then I would quit for a similar time before returning to the grip of the nicotine.

Newport peninsular Sydney with Phil Parkinson

Phil has lived most of his life on the Newport peninsular Sydney and I believe still does in 2016. He is the brother of my ex girlfriend Di Parkinson.

Melbourne Cup 1985

Karen & I at the cup with friends including another ex girlfriend Helen Burke who is on the left of the photo. Helen has a vineyard at Dromana on the Mornington Peninsular, I spent a few day there in October 2014 drinking wine with her and her partner Jack.

Oscars Coolangatta 1985

I can’t remember the name of the beautiful dark haired princess, she was the girlfriend of my crazy chiropractor from North Sydney.

Newport peninsular Sydney

Prior to buying my cabin cruiser I had this little run-about, it was a lot of fun, do you like the name? 🙂

Another guy from my rogues gallery.

Danny Rose one of Adelaide’s true characters, we had a day of the water, you can see “Stamped Urgent” in the background.

Beautiful Karen Smith

Certainly my life on the Newport peninsular Sydney revolved around lots of good friends and my beautiful fiancee Karen. My thanks to her for being the most important part of my life for those great years.

Thanks also to you for visiting my Newport peninsular Sydney photo blog.

Ayutthaya Historical Park Thailand

November 27, 2017 by David Herd

Fascinating Thai history

Ayutthaya Historical Park Thailand

Ayutthaya Historical Park Thailand

Ayutthaya Historical Park Thailand is about 80 kms north of Bangkok, however we were travelling from Pattaya so it was a 2.5 hour drive. The first thing we saw was this little dancing elephant.

I don’t like to see them trained like this.

Ayutthaya Historical Park Thailand

They are treated cruelly in the training process which is very sad.

Enjoying the ride

Ayutthaya Historical Park Thailand

This activity is fine, but I wish they would stop the cruel training.

These ruins are all over the city.

Ayutthaya Historical Park Thailand

It seems 90% was destroyed by people from Myanmar.  It was capital of the Kingdom of Siam, and a prosperous international trading port, from 1350 until razed by the Burmese in 1767.

Ayutthaya Historical Park Thailand

 Certainly exceeded my expectations.

Lots of cameras here. 🙂

Ayutthaya Historical Park Thailand

I prefer my Canon Ixus however I also use my phone or some.

There is a lot to enjoy here.

Ayutthaya Historical Park Thailand

We were too lazy to go up the stairs.

Too may Buddhas are never enough. 🙂

Ayutthaya Historical Park Thailand

I do like the yellow scarves. 🙂

Here we are at  Wat Phra Sri Sanphet

Ayutthaya Historical Park Thailand

Wat Phra Si Sanphet was the holiest temple on the site of the old Royal Palace in Thailand’s ancient capital of Ayutthaya until the city was completely destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. Wikipedia

 Not may tourists here.

Why did the elephant cross the road?

Ayutthaya Historical Park Thailand

Because anything the chicken can do he can do better. 🙂

Temple flooded October 3 2021

Ayutthaya Historical Park Thailand

A section of the wall on the southern side of Wat Chula Manee in Bang Ban district collapsed at about 5.30am after the Chao Phraya river overflowed, inundating communities around the temple. The grounds of the ancient temple were left 2 metres under water, damaging about 20 pagodas containing ashes of local residents’ ancestors.

Finally lunch then back home.

Ayutthaya Historical Park Thailand

Col One Love Restaurant was a bit of a tourist trap, we didn’t do our research & took our drivers advice. (kickbacks would apply here) Food was ok but not good value.

Thanks for visiting my Ayutthaya Historical Park Thailand photo blog.
