This is not a travel blog, it is part of my personal photo history. It seemed like Groundhog day. 🙂
Surfers Paradise Party Animals
Surfers Paradise Party Animals, 1992 was just another year of fun & games on the beautiful Gold Coast. I was certainly among the main party hosts, I had a great home for entertaining & I loved have lots of beautiful girls around.
Some of the usual suspects.
Naturally when there were pretty girls around the competition between the guys was fierce. 🙂
A rose between two thorns, I don’t think so. 🙂
I guess there is no need to say I was enjoying life to the max.
Occasionally some of the girls would relax in the spa.
Naturally I always had my camera ready.
These girls loved nature
And Dr Evil was always there with the camera. 🙂
Roslyn & Jill looking good
I remember spending some “quality time” with both these lovely ladies.
Jill & Sharon
Another “daily double” I’m happy to say, (that just means I bonked them both. 🙂 )we saw a show that night at Jupiters casino, I think it was Barry Humphries.
Andre Buzek dentist extraordinaire, (I don’t think so)
Sadly my great mate lost his life soon after in a car crash in Cuba.
Girl of the year Kelly Davis
I was lucky enough to spend a few months on & off with this lovely lady.
Here we are on New Years Eve
Naturally Harley is locked & loaded once again. 🙂
Big Steve Bristow (son of Tim) & Greg Johnston.
Now in 2018 Greg lives in Pattaya & runs a bar on the dark side, & Steve still lives on the Gold Coast.
The late great Paul Allen, a Surfers Paradise icon.
Talking about icons…………
Daryl Beattie is a former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer, those bikes however all belonged to Mick Doohan the living legend who won five consecutive 500 cc World Championships. The guy in the middle is a legend in his own lunch time, my good mate Ross Kennedy aka “Shoeless Joe”.
Talking about legends…
Here I am giving my boat a good wash. 🙂
A good looking bunch of babes
It was Xmas day 1992 and we all had a great lunch at my home in 106 Upton St Bundall. My main squeeze at the time was Kelly 2nd from the right, & my occasional squeeze was Jill standing beside her. 🙂
Another night another dinner at Upton St
Harley & his gay flatmate naturally came dressed in their army outfits. 🙂 Tat’s Kandice on the left & Nicola on the right.
That night produced one of my favourite photos
This is a true classic.
Another classic from 1992
Lyn Goss & Roslyn provided the glamour & Tony Murphy & I contributed with a truck load of style. 🙂
Mae Pim Excellent Hotel Thailand is across the road from the beach on the gulf of Thailand, two hours from Bangkok airport. Only 90 minutes east of Pattaya, B1200 by taxi and B1800 in a mini bus. For an excellent room rate just book through THIS LINK.
Naturally 301 on the next floor would have an even better view. 🙂
The hotel from the beach
You can clearly see the great location of Mae Pim Excellent Hotel Thailand.
There are many good restaurants close by overlooking the beach
This vermicelli & prawn dish was at Xing Xing restaurant. For more information on food in Mae Pim just follow THIS LINK.
Only 150 meters down the road is our favourite bar restaurant Tequila Sunrise. There is an international team there, a Swiss owner, Peter the German chef, Gary an Australian manager & some very nice Thai staff who run this popular establishment. On our recent trip we had lunch there 3 times, dinner once and cocktails every evening.
As I said earlier Mae Pim is two hours from Bangkok airport & only 90 minutes east of Pattaya. Thanks for visiting my Mae Pim Excellent Hotel Thailand photo blog. Use this link for a discounted rate at THE MAE PIM RESORT.
Mae Pim beach boats sunsets a beautiful onshore wind & peace and quiet. Only 90 minutes from Pattaya and 2 hours from Bangkok airport. The peace & quiet only applies between February and October, the 3 months over Xmas is a different story when the crowds converge on this delightful beach side resort.
Here are the traps being loaded onto the boat.
Setting off for a nights fishing
The traps are on board and there is a long night ahead, Mae Pim beach boats sunsets it’s all here.:)
The fresh produce is sold at roadside stalls beside the beach.
Beautiful Mae Pim beach boats sunsets
Plenty of deck chairs through the high season however they don’t seem to waste their time offering them in the low season.
Looking west the beach goes on forever
This is the perfect place for long beach walks with the onshore wind blowing in your face.
Sunset at Mae Pim
A beautiful time of the day to enjoy a stroll along the beach.
The sun setting in the west
Mae Pim is on the gulf of Thailand only ninety minutes by car east of Pattaya, and 2 hours south of Bangkok. Beautiful white sand and clean water, it’s so quiet and peaceful after the noise & Madness of Pattaya.
However it’s not all a wilderness
There are many restaurants offering live seafood, the photo above is my brother Warren & I at Tequila Sunrise.
Mae Pim Thailand fabulous food was high on our list when my brother & I took some Australian friends to this quiet little seaside village 90 minutes east of Pattaya. The 3 days & 4 nights had the feel of an eating odyssey centred mainly around the Tequila Sunrise bar & restaurant. There is an international team, a Swiss owner, Peter the German chef, Gary an Australian manager & some very nice Thai staff who run this popular establishment. We had lunch there 3 times, dinner once and cocktails every evening. Above is Swedish Skagen at Tequila Sunrise
From the left we have Chris Lockwood, Warren Herd, Nikki Murphy and Tony Murphy.
Nikki snaps the Sea Bass.
This was certainly worth a photo, another excellent dish at Tequila Sunrise.
Peter the talented chef at Tequila Sunrise
Peter was a chef at the Hard Rock Hotel in Pattaya until he saw the light and moved to Mae Pim. Now nothing short of an atomic bomb will get him to move anywhere else. Originally from Hamburg in Germany, he returned home for 2 weeks in May 2016, after 33 years this was his only visit. After speaking with him I’m guessing it may be his last trip home. 🙂
Sadly I didn’t get the restaurant name, however it was right next door to Tequila Sunrise, food was very good as was the beautiful breeze coming off the gulf of Thailand. My brother Warren enjoyed his fried squid in yellow curry with fried rice.
Chris also enjoyed his spicy Tom Yum seafood soup
All the dishes here were good and the price very reasonable.
A short video on Mae Pim beach
The Wednesday special at Tequila Sunrise is the enormous double schnitzel for only B159 which is a bargain. Here is my friend Larry Krausz who was born in Australia so I guess he was raised on schnitzels. 🙂
Larry & I were here in February 2016 and I couldn’t wait to return.
Larry Krausz wasa friend for around 30 years, sadly he suffered a major stroke on October 28 2016. After 2 months in the Bangkok Pattaya hospital on life support he was transported to Australia by a hospital Leer jet, thanks to his Medibank travel insurance. After a further month his life support was removed & he passed away peacefully.
I rest my case
What a monster, comes with French fries or mash potato.
Thailand Beach Resort Mae Pim on the gulf of Thailand is only ninety minutes by car east of Pattaya, and 2 hours south of Bangkok. Beautiful white sand and clean water, and so quiet and peaceful after the noise & Madness of Pattaya.
The main road in Thailand Beach Resort Mae Pim
Reminds me of the Eagles song “Long Road out of Eden”, so little traffic midweek compared to Pattaya.
Fresh seafood caught by these boats.
There are about 15 seafood restaurants offering all varieties of fish and shell fish.
One of the many seafood restaurants
There are about 16 live seafood restaurants.
Xing Xing at Thailand Beach Resort Mae Pim
After much discussion this id the one we chose and it proved to be an excellent choice.
Curry crab & spring rolls
The crab was very good (B600) however the spring rolls were absolutely fantastic.
Our hotel was rather old fashioned but the rooms were very good and the pool was enormous.
Olympic size pool
The water was a perfect temperature for guys like us who are allergic to the cold. 🙂
A busy bar with a great selection of food, however B175 for Jack Daniels is way over the top.
Back to the beach
Tequila Sunset restaurant overlooked the sandy beach where the gentle waves brushed against the shore, we marvelled at the beautiful onshore breeze blowing from the west, and thoroughly enjoyed the solitude of Mae Pim compared to the madness of Pattaya.
Mae Pin street vendor
All the usual souvenirs and floats for kids.
Bike for hire
These multi passenger bikes are for hire, the roads are very quiet so I’m sure they are reasonably safe.
Tequila Sunrise Mae Pim Thailand is an example of multiculturalism on the gulf of Thailand. The restaurant Tequila Sunriseis named after my favourite cocktail, we happily sip our drinks while overlooking the sandy beach where gentle waves brush against the shore, we marvel at the beautiful onshore breeze blowing from the west, and we enjoy the solitude of Mae Pin compared to the madness of Pattaya.
A Swiss owner, a German chef, an Australian manager & Thai staff run this popular establishment, where the Wednesday lunch special is a doubly schnitzel for the princely sum of B159 or $6 aud. My brother Warren chose the Swedish meatballs with mashed potato which actually outshone the huge schnitzel.
Larry chooses lunch
Born in Austria 66 years ago and moved to Australia around the age of two, moved to Thailand in November 2015, Larry Krausz would walk a mile for a Weiner Shnitzel.
Larry Krausz was a friend for around 30 years, sadly he suffered a major stroke on October 28 2016. After 2 months in the Bangkok Pattaya hospital on life support he was transported to Australia by a hospital Leer jet, thanks to his Medibank travel insurance. After a further month his life support was removed & he passed away peacefully. RIP little buddy.
Here’s the proof
I struggled to eat 75% of this monster schnitzel for lunch, in the evening the restaurant was full as it is most Wednesdays when the locals converge on the double schnitzel special.
Mai Pin fishing boat
Fishermen preparing their boat for another night on the gulf.
Tequila Sunrise Mae Pim Thailand
We returned to Tequila Sunrise for after dinner drinks, naturally I had two Margaritas.
Gary is the Australian manager at tequila Sunrise, grew up Guildford in Sydney before moving to Maroochydore in Queensland.
Step down to the beach
Grab some sun or have a swim then come up for a cold beer.
Swedish Skagen at Tequila Sunrise
This is certainly one of my favourite dishes, absolutely fantastic.
Sea Bass at Tequila Sunrise.

Peter is the chef
Peter is the German chef who provides all the wonderful meals at Tequila Sunrise. Previously he was the chef at the Hard Rock Hotel in Pattaya. For a great room rate in Pattaya or elsewhere just book through THIS LINK.
Birthday Party Pattaya style for Geoff Robinson at Heaven Gentleman’s club, in this case we use the term loosely. Geoff and his crazy friends are an international “mongrel mob” from all around the world, these guys are hell bent on drinking the town dry.
This great photo shows what a happy bunch of people they are. There are 4 guys from Australia, 1 from New Zealand, 4 from the UK, 1 from the USA, 1 from Germany, 2 from Norway and 1 from Finland. Not to be mistaken for a pot-pourri of poofters, more like a Soi 6 symposium.
It’s only fair to point out Geoff’s rise from humble beginnings. He was a rather shy disturbed lonely child who blossomed later in life when he discovered girls and beer. He turned into a good footballer playing lock forward for Oakdale, an outer western suburb in Sydney. At the 2006 census, Oakdale had a population of 1,006 people so assuming 1/2 were children & 15% of the remainder were men aged around 20, simply proves there was very little competition for a spot in the side. 🙂
Recent headlines in the local paper proves the club never recovered after the loss many years ago of their star lock forward. Many people thought of Geoff as the “Forest Gump” of Oakdale footy.
“Oakdale Rugby League Football Club is facing disaster before a ball is kicked in the 2014 Group 6 competition.”
Being a fair unbiased reporter I asked Geoff for his version of life at the Oakdale footy club.
“We were part of Group 6 competition. All the ex NRL players who were cut headed into the group. It was an extremely tough competition. I’ve endured a smashed cheekbone, broken jaw, so many concussions I can’t count them. If you couldn’t handle yourself on the park you couldn’t make it. I was best and fairest 1985. Best forward 1987 & 1990.”
Lets get this show on the road
Even though among he is known among his friends as the smiling assassin or the Sultan of Soi 6, deep down he is just a hansum chick magnet.
Without further ado lets see a short video of the birthday bash
I think you may now have a general idea of the direction this party is heading.
When not in Thailand partying in Soi 6Geoff lives a quiet life in Gosfordon the central NSW coast. As you can clearly see from the above photo he lives as any other 50 yo Aussie who has three sons and one grandson. Happy birthday granddad. 🙂 Doesn’t everybody have beer on tap in his lounge room these days?
According to my local “deep throat” who we shall refer to as “the Big V” Geoff apparentlysuffered from many beatings from the local thugs before deciding enough was enough. He took up Karate determined not to let anybody kick sand in his face ever again. 🙂
He now holds a black belt in Karate and occasionally gives himself an uppercut when he goes off the rails in Soi 6.
Stop splashing or I’ll kick the shit out of you.
The birthday boy issues a silent warning.
3rd Dan Black Belt
“The courageous fighter shuns violence. The skillful soldier avoids anger. A mighty warrior does not fight for petty conquests.” Master Po.
Here is where Geoff is at
The very top of the tree.
The monster mash
I don’t expect anybody to know what the Monster mash is. However looking at this fabulous photo I had a flashback to 1962. Take a look at this video and tell me if you see any resemblance to the guys in the photo, just saying……..
Am I right, or am I right? 🙂
Is is getting dark or is it my eyes?
No, I’m sure it’s getting darker.
Ah yes, old man. You can see the skies. They look like they’re upset about what mankind has been doing, and they’re threatening the Earth with storms. The clock says it’s daytime, but dark night is strangling the sun. Is it because night is so strong, or because day is so weak, that darkness covers the earth when it’s supposed to be light? Macbeth.
Let there be light
“Let there be light,” and there was light.” Being a practicing atheist I’m not revealing who originally said this.
Compliments to the staff at Heaven Gentleman’s Club for providing some very good food to keep the “Mongrel Mob” on their feet.
Sexy lady Nana Asaya looking very stylish as usual.
The ladies in red at Geoff’s Birthday Party Pattaya style
Heaven Gentleman’s Club girls looking good in red.
Beers & bikinis
Time to switch to Jagermeister shots
The beginning of the end
You can also use these as paint stripper. 🙂
The cake arrives
Doug is there to supervise. Known among his friends as the “Evil Duck” he is responsible for the huge profits made by San Miguel. I am told the Philippine government are considering adding him to their new years honour list. A Soi 6 tragic who works in Australia for a law firm with a name like Suckers & Bogans who have the following trademark.
You broke the law, we are here to add to your pain. 🙂
Later that night
Naturally the party moved to Soi 6 and the night eventually turned into a blur. For those of you who like to be close to the Soi 6 action here is a good hotel close by. This link will get you a great rate.
My birthday present for you.
My birthday present for you is this little photo blog to thank you for your friendship and support, I hope you and your many friends enjoy it.
When it comes to sheer automotive glamour there are few – if any – car manufacturers that have the goods to go head-to-head with the century-old British sports car manufacturer, Aston Martin. That’s especially true of the all-new Aston Martin Vanquish.
The new flagship Vanquish may well be one of the most beautiful cars in the world, but if you believe the brand’s design director, Marek Reichman, the Vanquish is also “the best Aston Martin thus far”.
Reach for your Black Amex, it will only set you back $472,840 in Australia.
Rolls-Royce Limited is a renowned English car-manufacturing and, later, aero-engine manufacturing company founded by Charles Stewart Rolls and Sir Frederick Henry Royce on 15 March 1906 as the result of a partnership formed in 1904.
The BMW i8 is ready to revolutionise its vehicle class. As the first sports car with the consumption and emission values of a compact car. The strength of the plug-in hybrid lies, among other factors, in the perfect synchronisation of electric motor and combustion engine, which makes itself apparent in maximum efficiency and dynamics on the road. The first sports car that even accelerates the zeitgeist.
John Cooper, owner of the Cooper Car Company and designer and builder of Formula One and rally cars, saw the potential of the Mini for competition. Issigonis was initially reluctant to see the Mini in the role of a performance car, but after John Cooper appealed to BMC management, the two men collaborated to create the Mini Cooper. The Austin Mini Cooper and Morris Mini Cooper debuted in 1961.
This is the view from Horizons the amazing rooftop bar. A great five star hotel located opposte the beach & above the Central Festival shopping mall. Just book through THIS LINK for an excellent room rate.
This colour coordinated guy shot past us like a guided missile. 🙂
This is more our speed
As you can imagine it is far too hot to walk the course.
Unless we meet one of these guys
Then we go faster, much faster. 🙂
Here we are Legends in our own lunch time
Duncan Paul, David Herd, Steven Bates and our sweet caddies.
Mitch Grosky goes straight up the middle
Mitch made it look easy.
The course was magnificent.
Legends Golf Club Malaysia
Designed by Jack Nicklaus, The Legends is one of the toughest tests of golf in South-East Asia. Legends can be best described as dramatic and can always be found in excellent condition.
The original concept of this resort included three championship courses: one designed by Jack Nicklaus, one by Arnold Palmer, and one by Gary Player. Only the Nicklaus course and nine holes of the Palmer course have been finished, though. The Gary Player course remains in the planning phase.
The par-72, 18-hole Jack Nicklaus course opened to golfers in 1997. This 6,710-metre (7,338-yard) course features views of the neighboring palm oil plantation. Don’t be surprised if monkeys stop to check out your game on the back nine too.
Lovely par 3
Legends Golf Club Malaysia is a beautiful course, if you are a golfer put it on your bucket list.
We almost had the course to ourselves
A guy called John Hallisey said “My worst day on the golf course still beats my best day in the office.”
Where else would you rather be?
We almost had the course to ourselves.
My lovely caddy
With two hole to go the storm came in and blew us off the course as so often happens in South East Asia.
