Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney where on a sunny weekend thousands of people head for the pubs & restaurants as well as the famous beach.

Beach or the pool

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Decisions decisions, the answer is whatever you prefer. 🙂

The pool & surf club are an iconic landmark

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney What a fabulous setting, absolutely breathtaking. Located right beside the Coogee Surf Life Saving Club.

The main attraction is the beautiful beach.

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney This is around 5pm so most of the crowd have gome home or to the pub.

Rock pool at northern end of Coogee Beach.

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Late afternoon as the sun sinks in the west.

Copacabana or Coogee

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Seeing the beach volley ball always reminds me of Copacabana where I have been lucky enough to visit 8 times between 1999 & 2010.

This is what brings the crowds

 photo b30bc5ef-4740-408b-8740-b4fc2117f03c.jpg Magnificent Coogee Beach.

Wonderful views from these homes.

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Can you imagine how much it would cost to live here?

The average Coogee home price is $2,627,000 for a house & $1,o39,500 for a condo. However these overlooking the ocean & beach would be double that.

Here are serviced apartments for rent.

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Amazing location overlooking the beach, ideal for a long stay. Use THIS LINK for an excellent room rate.

Would you prefer to stay in a Dive?

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Don’t be fooled by the name, the location is fantastic overlooking Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney. Book the Dive Hotel through THIS LINK.

Picnic in the park

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Check out the seagulls waiting for some scraps. 🙂

Or have a BBQ

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Cooking facilities are available here.

 Coogee Bay Road

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Lots of restaurants, cafes & flash cars.

Lots of sidewalk cafes

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Plenty of places to eat in Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney.

As you can see the traffic is bumper to bumper & finding a car park is like winning the lottery.

 Coogee Bay Hotel

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney One of the most famous hotels in Sydney and possibly the busiest.

Sunday afternoon session

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Noisy and busy at the Coogee Bay Hotel.

Great views over the beach from this excellent hotel, Use THIS LINK for a terrific discount on a room with a view.

The older side of Coogee

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Many parts of Coogee are quite ancient as you can see, probably worth several million as a devlopement site here in Arden Street.

This one is certainly worth preserving.

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Not sure if it will be kept as a private recidence or a guest house.

Overlooking Coogee Bay

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney As you can see Coogee is quite hilly.

Important safety message

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney When on the beach in Australia make sure you always use sun blockout, wear a hat & swim between the flags.

In recent years I have had many skin cancers removed, doctors tell me the damge was done many years ago before I turned 16 years of age. In those days we NEVER wore hats or used sun protection.

Thanks for visiting my Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney photo blog, before you leave please check out Maroubra Beach which is a few kms south of Coogee.

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb

March 25, 2017 by David Herd | 0 comments

Sunday in Maroubra

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb located 10 klms south of the city was so busy on this beautiful sunny Sunday. Just finding a place to park the car was a major frustrating excercise.

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb Some of the expensive apartments overlooking the beach. In fact the average price of an apartment in Maroubra is around $850,000, however those in the photo would be more than double that. The average house price in the suburb is $1,840,000.

Here is what makes Maroubra famous

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb Without a doubt Sydney’s beaches are among the best in the world. In my opinion the only country that can compare is Brazil, especially Florianopolis.

One of Sydney’s best surfing beaches.

photo 78c4c95e-9690-4c20-8bb0-43ea127655cb.jpg Everyone is waiting for a wave to ride.

The blue building is the surf club.

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb You can clearly see the lookout tower where the lifesavers keep a close eye on the swimmers.

A favourite photo

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb You have the camera man, the babe doing excercises, the Bra Boy heading for the surf & a couple just watching the action.  Bra Boys are a notorious surf gang, at their home beach Maroubra.

In December 2005 riots broke out between Muslum gangs from Sydneys Western suburbs & Eastern suburbs surfers. Follow THIS LINK for details. Contrary to popular opinion I personally was proud of the Aussie surfers that day.

That’s a huge zoom lens

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb No doubt tis guy is a serious photographer. 🙂

 Important safety message

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb When on the beach in Australia make sure you always use sun blockout, wear a hat & swim between the flags.

In recent years I have had many skin cancers removed, doctors tell me the damge was done many years ago before I turned 16 years of age. In those days we NEVER use sun protection.

A great family enviroment

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb What a place to grow up & to have fun on a magificent beach like Maroubra.

 Sidewalk cafes

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb Similar to every other Sydney beachside suburb sidewalk cafes abound.

Location

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb

As you can see Maroubra lies south of other fanous beaches such as Bondi & Coogee.

Thanks for visiting my Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb photo blog. For a great discount at Crowne Plaza hotel or other properties in Coogee just book through THIS LINK.

Good food Wongamat Beach Pattaya

January 13, 2017 by David Herd

Rim Talay

Good food Wongamat Beach Pattaya Good food Wongamat Beach Pattaya, here are four restaurants that are worth visiting. The first one is Rim Talay located at the southern end of Wongamat, this is a great location for a cold beer on a hot day. Fresh prawns come straight out of huge tanks behind the restaurant.

Ice cold Leo at Rim Talay

Without a doubt the beach here is much cleaner than Pattaya.

Tasty clams at Surf & Turf

You have the choice to sit inside or out.

Silver Lining

Good food Wongamat Beach Pattaya This rather spectacular restaurant is located in Zire Condominium right on the beach. At 9 pm the huge section of roof & walls slide out and cover the outdoor section of the restaurant.

A unique experience

Good food Wongamat Beach Pattaya Apart from the food it is worth going just to see the roof slide into place. 🙂

My pasta dish was fine however I must return to try some other dishes before I pass judgement on the food.

Beach Club at the Pullman Hotel

Good food Wongamat Beach Pattaya

If there is a better place in Pattaya to watch the sunset I have not found it, apart from the Hilton of course which is exceptional as well.

Tapas at the Beach Club

Good food Wongamat Beach Pattaya One of the attractions here is you can swim in the two pools as well as the ocean.

You can also hire these sun lounges.

Good food Wongamat Beach Pattaya Sun lounges, what sun lounges? I don’t see any sun lounges. 🙂

For a great room rate at the Pullman hotel just book using THIS LINK.

Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand

June 25, 2016 by David Herd

Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand.

Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand have improved out of sight since I was last there in 2007. There are so many great choices now, here are a few I have no hesitation in recommending. We hit the jackpot on our first evening when we dined at Il Duomo which is rated 3 out of 154 by TripAdvisor.

Pothole & I at Duomo

Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand The food prices were very reasonable, a bottle of red from Sanama Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile B1100. My Aussie friends can buy it at Petersham Liquor Mart for $10.

Sanama

Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand

Very smooth, a bit like myself. 🙂

Tell them my dear.

The owner comes from Milano.

Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand A very interesting guy who enjoyed having a chat. There was one very nice touch, we ordered a main course each and asked for extra plates as we wanted to share the meals. We were pleasantly surprised when they actually served us both half portions separately, we didn’t need to do it ourselves, very classy indeed. Apart from that the food was exceptional.

Prego Italian Restaurant

Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand Located at the Amari hotel TripAdvisor only rate it 13 out of 154 restaurants in Chaweng. Al I can say if there are 12 better restaurants then Samui dining is in great shape. Lovely decor, great food and excellent service. Once again the price was reasonable and they also had a red wine from Chile on special.

Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand          Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand          Samui restaurants Chaweng

My ravioli was superb as was Pothole’s pizza.

Ravioli was superb

Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand  Put Prego on you list of must do restaurants in Samui. The Amari has been totally renovated and rates very highly among Samui hotels, for a very good room rate just book through THIS LINK.

 Wine Connection

Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand My favourite, they also have several in Bangkok although the Silom branch is the only one I have been to. The best garlic prawns I have had in 20 years, I have had them both at Samui & Bangkok & they are perfect.

Wine Connection at Central Festival Samui

Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand We only spent 4 nights in Samui and chose to eat here twice.

Low cost wine

Samui restaurants Chaweng They offer a wonderful selection of wine from all over the world at liquor store prices. Our red wine from Chile was a bargain B650.

Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand          Samui restaurants Chaweng          Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand

The chain I’m told is owned by a French group, I only wish they would open a branch in Pattaya.

Lamb shank at the Wine Connection.

Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand The food choices are extensive, lots of terrines a a big range of pasta.

Coffee club

photo Coffee Club.jpg I saw two Coffee club restaurants, one in Central Festival and one in the main street opposite the Ark Bar.  Very good eggs Benedict and coffee.

Eggs Benedict

Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand Absolutely delicious.

Bar Baguette

Samui restaurants Chaweng Located at Bophut beach this was really a good little cafe for lunch, the avocado & bacon baguette was perfect and the staff were really friendly.

Lots of choices on the main street.

Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand There are many restaurants offering fresh seafood and lots of sports bars offering good pub food. Sadly we only had four days to sample the Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand, however I guarantee I shall return.

Lots of fresh seafood

Koh Samui Island restaurants Thailand In the nine years since I was in Samui I can’t believe the incredible improvement in the restaurant scene, the choices are endless.

Adelaide seaside suburb Glenelg beach

November 20, 2015 by David Herd

Glenelg

Adelaide seaside suburb Glenelg beachAdelaide seaside suburb Glenelg beach is where I decided to stay in October 2014. It is the oldest European settlement on mainland South Australia & was established in 1836.

Great Ocean Road Australia

November 3, 2014 by David Herd

Twelve Apostles

Great Ocean Road AustraliaGreat Ocean Road Australia on the south coast of Victoria offers some of the most breathtaking spectacular scenery in Australia. Look at the following photos to see what I mean.

Breathtaking scenery

Twelve ApostlesI drove from Adelaide to Melbourne along the Great Ocean Road Australia in October 2014, I had driven this road once before in  1988.

Twelve Apostles in 1988

 Great Ocean Road Australia

One of Australia’s best road trips.

Here I am in 1998

 photo 1989002.jpg

Of course there were more Apostles back then. 🙂

The Twelve Apostles Great Ocean Road Australia

Great Ocean Road The Great Ocean Road officially starts at Torquay and travels 243 kilometres westward to finish at Allansford near Warrnambool, the largest city along the road. The road is two lane (one in each direction), and is covered by a speed limit changing between 80 kilometres per hour and 100 kilometres per hour Great Ocean Road as viewed from Teddy’s Lookout, south of Lorne The road is considered a tourist attraction in the area, in which much of the road hugs coastline affectionately known as the Surf Coast between Torquay and Cape Otway and the Shipwreck Coast further west of Cape Otway, providing visibility of Bass Strait and the Southern Ocean. The road traverses rainforests, as well as beaches and cliffs composed of limestone and sandstone, which is susceptible to erosion. The road travels via Anglesea, Lorne, Apollo Bay, and Port Campbell, the latter being notable for its natural limestone and sandstone rock formations including Loch Ard Gorge, The Grotto, London Arch and The Twelve Apostles.  At the stretch of the Great Ocean Road nearer to Geelong, the road meanders along the coast, with tall, almost-vertical cliffs on the other side of it. Road signs put up along the road warn motorists of possible rockfalls, which have occurred before.

Nice view on the Great Ocean Road

Great Ocean Road Australia  Certainly one of the best views I saw today. 🙂

The Arch

Great Ocean Road

Another famous landmark.

London Bridge

Great Ocean Road Australia When I last drove this road in 1988 London Bridge on the Great Ocean Road was one piece, some years later the middle collapsed as you can clearly see.

I consider myself very lucky to have seen the bridge intact.

Now you see it, now you don’t.

Bay of Martyrs

I imaging this coastline looked the same hundreds of years ago.

I bumped into only a hand full of tourists on my road trip.

Bay of Islands

Art Deco South Beach Miami

Art Deco South Beach

South Beach MiamiArt Deco South Beach Miami was the attraction for me, and the Clay Hotel 1438 Washington Ave, Miami Beach was the perfect location. Far less expensive being 3 or 4 blocks back from the beach.

South Beach Miami

South Beach Miami

South Beach Miami is one of my favourite people watching locations in the world. The cars, the gorgeous women, the bikinis on the beach, its got it all, throw in lots of great bars & restaurants and what else do you need?

How many movies has this deli been in?

South Beach Miami

The Architectural District (also known as Old Miami Beach Historic District, and the more popular term, Miami Art Deco District) is a U.S. historic district (designated as such on May 14, 1979) located in the South Beach neighbourhood of Miami Beach, Florida. The district is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Sixth Street to the south, Alton Road to the west, the Collins Canal and Dade Boulevard to the north. It contains 960 historic buildings. In 1989, it was listed in A Guide to Florida’s Historic Architecture, published by the University of Florida Press.

The famous life guard towers

Miami life guard tower The fabulous art deco towers are unique examples of this form of architecture, they along the eight and a half mile stretch of  Beach. All told there are twenty five towers guarding those who use the beach. At once functional and decorative, they contribute beautifully to the overall aesthetic of this Floridian resort city. A great example of Art Deco South Beach Miami.
