Driving south from Gosford to Sydney.

Sydney City Boats Beaches Harbour Sydney City Boats Beaches Harbour were all waiting for me after my leasurely drive down the east coast from Surfers Paradise in QLD.

It was a great drive down from from Surfers Paradise  to Sydney stopping at Kingscliff, Yamba, Port Macquarie, Forster-Tuncurry, Gosford & Coogee. Also dropped into Maroubra which is a place I have not seen for over 50 years. Just click on the links to see my photo blogs.

The historic Roseville Cinema

Sydney City Boats Beaches Harbour On the road between Hornsby & Sydney is The historic Roseville Cinema on the Pacific Highway, noted for its art deco facade. It became Traynor’s Picture Palace in 1919, but did not become a full-scale cinema until 1936. Roseville Cinema was renovated & updated to two screens in 1995.

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney where on a sunny weekend thousands of people head for the pubs & restaurants as well as the famous beach.

Beach or the pool

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Decisions decisions, the answer is whatever you prefer. 🙂

The pool & surf club are an iconic landmark

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney What a fabulous setting, absolutely breathtaking. Located right beside the Coogee Surf Life Saving Club.

The main attraction is the beautiful beach.

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney This is around 5pm so most of the crowd have gome home or to the pub.

Rock pool at northern end of Coogee Beach.

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Late afternoon as the sun sinks in the west.

Copacabana or Coogee

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Seeing the beach volley ball always reminds me of Copacabana where I have been lucky enough to visit 8 times between 1999 & 2010.

This is what brings the crowds

 photo b30bc5ef-4740-408b-8740-b4fc2117f03c.jpg Magnificent Coogee Beach.

Wonderful views from these homes.

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Can you imagine how much it would cost to live here?

The average Coogee home price is $2,627,000 for a house & $1,o39,500 for a condo. However these overlooking the ocean & beach would be double that.

Here are serviced apartments for rent.

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Amazing location overlooking the beach, ideal for a long stay. Use THIS LINK for an excellent room rate.

Would you prefer to stay in a Dive?

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Don’t be fooled by the name, the location is fantastic overlooking Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney. Book the Dive Hotel through THIS LINK.

Picnic in the park

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Check out the seagulls waiting for some scraps. 🙂

Or have a BBQ

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Cooking facilities are available here.

 Coogee Bay Road

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Lots of restaurants, cafes & flash cars.

Lots of sidewalk cafes

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Plenty of places to eat in Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney.

As you can see the traffic is bumper to bumper & finding a car park is like winning the lottery.

 Coogee Bay Hotel

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney One of the most famous hotels in Sydney and possibly the busiest.

Sunday afternoon session

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Noisy and busy at the Coogee Bay Hotel.

Coogee Pavilion

Great views over the beach from this excellent hotel, Use THIS LINK for a terrific discount on a room with a view.

The older side of Coogee

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Many parts of Coogee are quite ancient as you can see, probably worth several million as a devlopement site here in Arden Street.

This one is certainly worth preserving.

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Not sure if it will be kept as a private recidence or a guest house.

Overlooking Coogee Bay

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney As you can see Coogee is quite hilly.

Important safety message

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney When on the beach in Australia make sure you always use sun blockout, wear a hat & swim between the flags.

In recent years I have had many skin cancers removed, doctors tell me the damge was done many years ago before I turned 16 years of age. In those days we NEVER wore hats or used sun protection.

Thanks for visiting my Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney photo blog, before you leave please check out Maroubra Beach which is a few kms south of Coogee.

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb

March 25, 2017 by David Herd

Sunday in Maroubra

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb located 10 klms south of the city was so busy on this beautiful sunny Sunday. Just finding a place to park the car was a major frustrating excercise.

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb Some of the expensive apartments overlooking the beach. In fact the average price of an apartment in Maroubra is around $850,000, however those in the photo would be more than double that. The average house price in the suburb is $1,840,000.

Here is what makes Maroubra famous

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb Without a doubt Sydney’s beaches are among the best in the world. In my opinion the only country that can compare is Brazil, especially Florianopolis.

One of Sydney’s best surfing beaches.

photo 78c4c95e-9690-4c20-8bb0-43ea127655cb.jpg Everyone is waiting for a wave to ride.

The blue building is the surf club.

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb You can clearly see the lookout tower where the lifesavers keep a close eye on the swimmers.

A favourite photo

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb You have the camera man, the babe doing excercises, the Bra Boy heading for the surf & a couple just watching the action.  Bra Boys are a notorious surf gang, at their home beach Maroubra.

In December 2005 riots broke out between Muslum gangs from Sydneys Western suburbs & Eastern suburbs surfers. Follow THIS LINK for details. Contrary to popular opinion I personally was proud of the Aussie surfers that day.

That’s a huge zoom lens

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb No doubt tis guy is a serious photographer. 🙂

A great family enviroment

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb What a place to grow up & to have fun on a magificent beach like Maroubra.

 Sidewalk cafes

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb Similar to every other Sydney beachside suburb sidewalk cafes abound.

Maroubra Sydney Beachside Suburb A great view from this boutique hotel overlooking Coogee Beach, just book through THIS LINK for an excellent discount.

Mae Pim fishing boat

Mae Pim beach boats sunsets Mae Pim beach boats sunsets a beautiful onshore wind & peace and quiet. Only 90 minutes from Pattaya and 2 hours from Bangkok airport. The peace & quiet only applies between February and October, the 3 months over Xmas is a different story when the crowds converge on this delightful beach side resort.

Fishing traps

Mae Pim beach boats sunsets

Here are the traps being loaded onto the boat.

Setting off for a nights fishing

Mai Pin fishing boat photo IMG_2793.jpg The traps are on board and there is a long night ahead, Mae Pim beach boats sunsets it’s all here.:)

 Roadside stalls

Beautiful Mae Pim beach boats sunsets

Mae Pim beach boats sunsets Plenty of deck chairs through the high season however they don’t seem to waste their time offering them in the low season.

Looking west the beach goes on forever

Mae Pim beach boats sunsets This is the perfect place for long beach walks with the onshore wind blowing in your face.

Sunset at Mae Pim

The sun setting in the west

Mae Pim beach boats sunsets  Mae Pim is on the gulf of Thailand only ninety minutes by car east of Pattaya, and 2 hours south of Bangkok. Beautiful white sand and clean water, it’s so quiet and peaceful after the noise & Madness of Pattaya.

However it’s not all a wilderness

Mae Pim beach boats sunsets There are many restaurants offering live seafood, the photo above is my brother Warren & I at Tequila Sunrise.

Mae Pim Thailand fabulous food

Mae Pim Thailand fabulous food

Mae Pim Thailand fabulous food

Mae Pim Thailand fabulous food was high on our list when my brother & I took some Australian friends to this quiet little seaside village 90 minutes east of Pattaya. The 3 days & 4 nights had the feel of an eating odyssey centred mainly around the Tequila Sunrise bar & restaurant. There is an international team, a Swiss owner, Peter the German chef, Gary an Australian manager & some very nice Thai staff who run this popular establishment. We had lunch there 3 times, dinner once and cocktails every evening. Above is Swedish Skagen at Tequila Sunrise

Skagen is one of my favourite dishes, here is Jamie Oliver’s recipe.

Swedish smoked salmon

Mae Pim Thailand fabulous food My good friend Tony Murphy rated this beautiful salmon 10/10 at Tequila Sunrise.

Tony Murphy strikes a pose

Tequila Sunrise Mae Pim

Here is Murph doing his best to imitate a rather dour Swede as a salute to this fabulous salmon dish.

Jag älskar verkligen att äta rök lax
 Bratwurst at Tequila Sunrise

Mae Pim Thailand fabulous food Naturally with a German chef you would expect bratwurst to be on the menu. 🙂 However let’s not forget the mash potato which was excellent.

Chris Lockwood aka Dr Evil

Mae Pim Thailand fabulous food

Dr Evil & Nikki Murphy fell in love with the Pina Coladas at Tequila Sunrise. Chris has just completed a terrific South American trip, read his hilarious blog, just follow THIS LINK.

Here is a Pina Colada recipe.

A bunch of Aussies

Mae Pim Thailand fabulous food From the left we have Chris Lockwood, Warren Herd, Nikki Murphy and Tony Murphy.

Nikki snaps the Sea Bass.

Mae Pim Thailand fabulous food This was certainly worth a photo, another excellent dish at Tequila Sunrise.

Peter the talented chef at Tequila Sunrise

Mae Pim Thailand fabulous food Peter was a chef at the Hard Rock Hotel in Pattaya until he saw the light and moved to Mae Pim. Now nothing short of an atomic bomb will get him to move anywhere else. Originally from Hamburg in Germany, he returned home for 2 weeks in May 2016, after 33 years this was his only visit. After speaking with him I’m guessing it may be his last trip home. 🙂

Up to now it seems like Tequila Sunrise is the only place we ate at, however there were a couple of other places. Here is my Tequila Sunrise photo blog from February.

Thailand beach resort fabulous food at Xing Xing

Mae Pim Thailand fabulous food One of the many Mae Pim seafood restaurants, lots of live product on offer at very reasonable prices. Above is their Prawn & Vermicelli which was absolutely delicious.

Rock Lobster at Xing Xing

Mae Pim Thailand fabulous food Rock Lobster at Xing Xing certainly lived up to the Mae Pim Thailand fabulous food category.

Seafood tanks at Xing Xing

Mae Pim Thailand fabulous food Lots of fresh seafood to choose here.

Lots of varieties

Mae Pim Thailand fabulous food I’m not even sure what this little beast is. 🙂

Curry crab & spring rolls Thailand beach resort fabulous food

Thailand beach resort fabulous food The crab was very good (B600) and the spring rolls were fantastic.

Book through THIS LINK for a great Pattaya hotel room rate.

 Next door to Tequila Sunrise

Mae Pim Thailand fabulous food Sadly I didn’t get the restaurant name, however it was right next door to Tequila Sunrise, food was very good as was the beautiful breeze coming off the gulf of Thailand. My brother Warren enjoyed his fried squid in yellow curry with fried rice.

Chris also enjoyed his spicy Tom Yum seafood soup

Thailand beach resort fabulous food

All the dishes here were good and the price very reasonable.

A short video on Mae Pim beach

 Wednesday special

Thailand beach resort fabulous food The Wednesday special at Tequila Sunrise is the enormous double schnitzel for only B159 which is a bargain. Here is my friend Larry Krausz who was born in Australia so I guess he was raised on schnitzels. 🙂

Larry & I were here in February 2016 and I couldn’t wait to return.

Larry Krausz wasa friend for around 30 years, sadly he suffered a major stroke on October 28 2016. After 2 months in the Bangkok Pattaya hospital on life support he was transported to Australia by a hospital Leer jet, thanks to his Medibank travel insurance. After a further month his life support was removed & he passed away peacefully.

I rest my case

Thailand beach resort fabulous food What a monster, comes with French fries or mash potato.

Peter is the chef at Tequila Sunrise
