Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney where on a sunny weekend thousands of people head for the pubs & restaurants as well as the famous beach.

Beach or the pool

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Decisions decisions, the answer is whatever you prefer. 🙂

The pool & surf club are an iconic landmark

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney What a fabulous setting, absolutely breathtaking. Located right beside the Coogee Surf Life Saving Club.

The main attraction is the beautiful beach.

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney This is around 5pm so most of the crowd have gome home or to the pub.

Rock pool at northern end of Coogee Beach.

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Late afternoon as the sun sinks in the west.

Copacabana or Coogee

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Seeing the beach volley ball always reminds me of Copacabana where I have been lucky enough to visit 8 times between 1999 & 2010.

This is what brings the crowds

 photo b30bc5ef-4740-408b-8740-b4fc2117f03c.jpg Magnificent Coogee Beach.

Wonderful views from these homes.

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Can you imagine how much it would cost to live here?

The average Coogee home price is $2,627,000 for a house & $1,o39,500 for a condo. However these overlooking the ocean & beach would be double that.

Here are serviced apartments for rent.

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Amazing location overlooking the beach, ideal for a long stay. Use THIS LINK for an excellent room rate.

Would you prefer to stay in a Dive?

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Don’t be fooled by the name, the location is fantastic overlooking Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney. Book the Dive Hotel through THIS LINK.

Picnic in the park

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Check out the seagulls waiting for some scraps. 🙂

Or have a BBQ

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Cooking facilities are available here.

 Coogee Bay Road

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Lots of restaurants, cafes & flash cars.

Lots of sidewalk cafes

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Plenty of places to eat in Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney.

As you can see the traffic is bumper to bumper & finding a car park is like winning the lottery.

 Coogee Bay Hotel

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney One of the most famous hotels in Sydney and possibly the busiest.

Sunday afternoon session

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Noisy and busy at the Coogee Bay Hotel.

Coogee Pavilion

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney  Coogee Pavilion is a multi-storey dining destination created by Sydney hotel baron Justin Hemmes.

Surf club entrance at southern end of the beach

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney What a perfect day for taking photos.

Southern end of Coogee

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Grand Pacific accommodation & the Barzura Cafe.

Coogee Crown Plaza

Crown Plaza is a great location

Great views over the beach from this excellent hotel, Use THIS LINK for a terrific discount on a room with a view.

The older side of Coogee

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Many parts of Coogee are quite ancient as you can see, probably worth several million as a devlopement site here in Arden Street.

This one is certainly worth preserving.

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney Not sure if it will be kept as a private recidence or a guest house.

Overlooking Coogee Bay

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney As you can see Coogee is quite hilly.

Important safety message

Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney When on the beach in Australia make sure you always use sun blockout, wear a hat & swim between the flags.

In recent years I have had many skin cancers removed, doctors tell me the damge was done many years ago before I turned 16 years of age. In those days we NEVER wore hats or used sun protection.

Thanks for visiting my Busy Chaotic Coogee Beach Sydney photo blog, before you leave please check out Maroubra Beach which is a few kms south of Coogee.

January 29, 2017 by David Herd

Char Bar

Char Rooftop Bar Hotel Indigo Bangkok Char Rooftop Bar Hotel Indigo Bangkok in 81 Wireless Road is yet another addition to the growing number of rooftop bars in Bangkok. Open at 6 pm in time for the sunset.

Impressive view of the city

Char Rooftop Bar Hotel Indigo Bangkok Bangkok at night is rather stunning, when the lights come on it’s like a fairy land.

Wireless Road

Buy by the glass or by the bottle. At B850 a glass I may give the Johnny Walker Blue a miss. 🙂

Back to the magnificent skyline

Char Rooftop Bar Hotel Indigo Bangkok I hope I have convinced you at Char Rooftop Bar Hotel Indigo Bangkok is worth a visit.

How are the beer prices?

Char Rooftop Bar Hotel Indigo Bangkok

Well I’m glad you asked. B160 for an Asahi or Heineken & B150 foe a Singha is quite reasonable for a rooftop bar of this quality.

But my girlfriend drinks cocktails.

Char Rooftop Bar Hotel Indigo Bangkok

You are breaking my heart, either pay the B280 for a Margarita or find a new girlfriend who drinks beer. 🙂

Regatta Hotel Brisbane Landmark

August 25, 2016 by David Herd

Wonderful Brisbane Hotel

Regatta Hotel Brisbane Landmark Regatta Hotel Brisbane Landmark has been around for a long time. The original hotel was built there in 1874, as a single storey wooden building. Located by the river and classified by the National Trust it has been flooded out quite a few times over the years. The above photo shows the rear view of the hotel and highlights the ornate cast iron lacing which adorn the entire building.

1992 Jaguar sovereign.

Regatta Hotel Brisbane Landmark My great old friend Steve Rado picked me up at the Park Regis Hotel where I was staying and drove me to the Regatta Hotel in his immaculate Jaguar which he recently purchased for $1300.

The Park Regis is in an excellent location, for a great room rate just book through THIS LINK.

What a fit out

Regatta Hotel Brisbane Landmark Certainly one of the best fit outs I have ever seen at an Australian Hotel.

Designed by a genius

Regatta Hotel Brisbane Landmark If you are not impressed by the decor here then pubs are obviously not your thing. 🙂

 A surprise around every corner

Regatta Hotel Brisbane Landmark There are lots of nooks & crannies to eat and drink at this fabulous hotel.

Flood levels

Regatta Hotel Brisbane Landmark

Outside they have marked flood levels and the years they happened. The recent level of the 2011 flood was around the bottom of this photo.

Footpath dining

Regatta Hotel Brisbane Landmark The Regatta even have a place where the smokers can continue with their disgusting habit.  You guessed it, I’m a reformed smoker. 🙂

Lovely table settings

Regatta Hotel Brisbane Landmark They certainly have many dining options for parties of any size.

Outdoor bar

Regatta Hotel Brisbane Landmark So many choices of where to eat and drink and so little time. 🙂

Regatta Hotel Brisbane Landmark          Regatta Hotel Brisbane Landmark          Regatta Hotel Brisbane Landmark

If you cant find a place that suits you at the Regatta Hotel Brisbane Landmark, you are just not trying. 🙂

Lunch at the Boatshed

Regatta Hotel Brisbane Landmark Quite a spectacular room with very good food and wine.

Aged beef

Regatta Hotel Brisbane Landmark If it’s a good steak you are looking for, this is the place. Seeing the aged beef on display gave me a flashback to Gallagher’s Steakhouse in New York City, follow THIS LINK to see what I mean.

Open kitchen

Regatta Hotel Brisbane Landmark

The food was excellent, we both had steaks washed down with a Margaret River red.

City view from opposite Regatta Hotel

Sirocco Sky Bar State Tower Bangkok

March 22, 2016 by David Herd

Totally awesome

Sirocco Sky Bar State Tower BangkokSirocco Sky Bar State Tower Bangkok is one of the best rooftop restaurants bars in the world. In fact I really doubt if any city in the world has more roof top bars than Bangkok. I would certainly like to know if there is any place more spectacular than Sirocco which is located of the 64th floor of the State Tower building in Bangkok.

Sirocco Sky Bar State Tower Bangkok

Sirocco Sky Bar State Tower Bangkok

One of my favourite Bangkok Hotels, use this link to book and get a great room rate.

 Centre Point Hotel Silom

Sirocco Sky Bar State Tower Bangkok Great location close to the Sky Train and the river ferries. One of the nicest ways to spend an hour in Bangkok is cruising along the mighty Chao Phraya river. The river ferry takes you up the lazy river for only B150 for the whole day. It is a great way to see many of Bangkok’s wonderful landmarks. A ticket to Chinatown is only B40, get off at pier number 5 at Ratchawong and walk 10 minutes up the road.

Back to Sirocco

Sirocco Sky Bar State Tower Bangkok Here are some friends of mine from Wiltshire west of London. Naturally among the many places I showed them in Bangkok Sirocco was a must see. Of course we also did a canal cruise on a long-tail boat.

Fabulous food

Sirocco Sky Bar State Tower Bangkok As you would expect the food is fabulous but the price is very high. Make sure you have your credit card with you. 🙂

Octave Rooftop Lounge Marriott Bangkok

 Sunset cocktails Octave Rooftop Lounge

Octave Rooftop Lounge Marriott Bangkok Octave Rooftop Lounge Marriott Bangkok is where I decided to watch the sunset on Halloween night at Octave, which is the roof top bar at the Hotel on 2 Soi Sukhumvit 57.  I actually started the day with breakfast at the JW Marriott at Soi 2 Sukhumvit just near Ploenchit station.

Panoramic view

Octave Rooftop Lounge Marriott Bangkok If you want a front row seat you better arrive early.

Sunset at the Marriott

Octave Rooftop Lounge Marriott Bangkok Of course everyone is waiting for sunset when the city lights come on turning the skyline into a fairyland.

Happy hour cocktails

David Herd Pattaya The drinks are quite expensive at most roof top bars however  here you get two for one cocktails at happy hour before 6pm.

On come the lights

Octave Rooftop Lounge Marriott Bangkok There is nothing nicer than sipping a cocktail while watching the lights come on in this remarkable city of angels.

Sky turning bright blue

Marriott hotel Bangkok This time of the evening is a great time for photos, just turn off your flash and capture the moment. They call it “the blue hour” and the results are often spectacular.

 Sukhumvit Road

Octave Rooftop Lounge Marriott Bangkok Sukhumvit is one of Bangkok’s busiest roads so catch the sky train to Thong Lo station and walk 5 minutes.

It’s Halloween at Octave Rooftop Lounge Marriott Bangkok

Time to check out my 2 minute movie.

Ok, so I’m no Steven Spielberg but not a bad job for an amateur. 🙂

Marriott foyer

Octave Rooftop Lounge Marriott Bangkok Marriott hotel Bangkok is quite luxurious as you would expect from this well known world wide chain. They have purchased the Queens Park hotel in Soi 22 and are renovating the 2000 room hotel from top to bottom. They expect to open in 2017 which will certainly add to this chains Bangkok footprint.

Royal Cliff Hotel Pattaya Here I am with my friend Rob Symonds on our first trip to Thailand in 1980. The hotel was only about half the size in 1980 and had only been open for 2 years. In those days there was a separate building with housed a ten pin bowling alley on the ground floor with a typical Thai soapy massage parlour on the first floor. There were at least 50 gorgeous ladies behind the glass and you simply chose the one you wanted. 🙂
