Bangkok Budget Sukhumvit Hotels

Bangkok Budget Sukhumvit Hotels are very good value in this part of the city. I place these hotels in the under B1,700 category, which is under $50 USD. The photo above is on Sukhumvit close to Soi 4 Nana.

Without a doubt AGODA is the best online Hotel booking site.

Lets check out the Dynasty Inn.

The Dynasty Inn is in Sukhumvit Soi 4 Nana, a few meters from the infamous Nana Plaza. I can highly recommend this 2.5 star hotel because I have stayed there probably 50 times in the last 20 years. For lots of information regarding Nana Plaza check out my blog.

Dynasty Grande

Just around the corner at 21 Soi Sukhumvit 6, Sukhumvit Rd is the more upmarket Dynasty Grande, very good large rooms, I would rate it 3 to 3.5 stars. Rooms are around 2,000 Baht per night or $60. Bear in mind that is the same rate at Centre Point in Silom which is a much better hotel. The Dynasty however is a good choice for those who can’t resist the lure of Nana Plaza. If you use this link you can sometimes get a room for B2000.

Citadines hotel is a great location in Soi 11 Sukhumvit to stay in Bangkok, right in the middle of the action. Mulligans 24 hour Irish pub is on the ground floor.

The rooms are compact and nicely laid out including a kitchen if you like to prepare some food.

I-Check Inn Soi 11

Just a few meters from Nana station is this excellent small hotel tucked away is a lane off Soi 11. If you use this link you will get a room for around B1100.

Hotel Icon

The Hotel Icon is a short walk to Nana Plaza and Ploenchit Sky train. It is quite new and in a good location.

Woraburi Bangkok budget hotels

Located a fair distance down Soi 4 Nana, they provide a shuttle to Sukhumvit every 30 minutes. Make sure you book a superior room, use this link for a great price.

On the ground floor are mostly open-air beer bars to choose from. Girls will try to tempt you in for a drink or a game of Jenga but not much really happens here, however it is where I prefer to drink and watch the passing parade. The shows and the A Go Go Bars with naughty names like Lollipop,Pretty Lady and Red Lips are located on the first floor. Girls here will step into your path and will try to drag you in for a look.

Sabai Resort Pattaya budget hotel

Sabai Resort Pattaya budget hotel is in a great location in beside Central Marina shopping mall in north Pattaya away from the madness of Walking St. Yet it is only a 10 Baht 10 minute bus ride along the beach to get among the action.

My favourite room 311

I stayed at the Sabai Resort many times from 2004 until I moved from Australia to Thailand in 2011. I still often book friends in when they visit Pattaya. There are 3 pools and many different room styles, the average price is around $60 usd per night, you will get the best rate possible through this link. Atlantic Bar

Just across the road are some good beer bars, in particular the Atlantic bar is very popular indeed, in July 2015 they increased to the size by 50%, check it out here.

Cherry Bar

Almost beside the Atlantic is the Cherry Bar another one of my favourite haunts since 2003.

Otherwise go next door to Central Marina where there is a great choice of restaurants and Cafes.

Home extension budget blowout

Home extension budget blowout was due to the many changes I made to my original plan. I wasn’t satisfied with just adding a 2nd floor. The photo above was taken just after my home was built in 1990.

Day one the job begins

Now we are getting somewhere.

I really wanted to give the home “street appeal” something it didn’t have in its original form.

It’s easy to be wise after the event, on the original plans a stairway was supposed to lead from that wall to the main house downstairs, for some reason we left it out which later proved to be a mistake.

The jewel in this home extension is this fabulous little studio completely self contained with a private entrance.

When I look at this home extension which cost me double the original quote of $120,000 I feel it was all worth it. Uptairs consists of 3 bedrooms & two bathrooms and downstairs a separate private studio apartment.

The fabulous finished product

One of main main goals with this home extension other than creating rooms I could rent to students was to give my home more “street appeal” to help when the time came to sell. I think I certainly achieved that.

My dream home

The finished product was wonderful however I made some big mistakes in my overall scheme of things. I did not do enough research on council regulations regarding student rental, secondly I never anticipated the reaction from my feral neighbours who were always complaining to council about anything & everything. These people the Ryan family at 108 Upton proved to be cowardly & malicious. I often wondered why until a policeman friend of mine pointed out the increase in complaints from neighbours always increased after major renovations due to their uncontrollable jealousy.

Finally my biggest mistake was building such a large home which made it very difficult to finally sell. It was just far too big for the average family, without realizing it I had placed myself in a small range of under 10% of buyers. Apart from all that I was very proud & thrilled with the final product, it also gave me a great sense of achievement to design & create my dream home.

Best Pattaya breakfast coffee service

Best Pattaya breakfast coffee service? Allow me to make some suggestions, it is a daily routine for me, I like to walk along the beach for 30 minutes first, then enjoy a nice breakfast while reading the Bangkok Post. I also like the places that provide the post for free. LK Empress on the corner of Beach Rd & Soi 12 used to offer a great value buffet for 190 Baht or $5.40 USD, for me it is one of the best Pattaya breakfasts.

NB, price has just gone up to 230 Baht or $6.60 USD so I now think the best value is Bon Cafe in Naklua Rd. 🙂

I eat out 7 days a week & I won’t go anywhere who is not open at 8.30. or does not provide the Bangkok Post.

French Bakery 3rd Rd

Terrific breakfast here and cheap, however I must recommend you order a couple of ham & salad rolls to take home for lunch, without a doubt they are the best in Pattaya.

The best baguette outside of Paris or Vietnam.

Sportsmans Pub

Just around the corner from LK in Soi 13 is the Sportsmans Pub, don’t be fooled by the fruit dish, they do one of the best Pattaya breakfasts there for under 200 Baht ($5.70 USD). I’m sure if I had a photo of bacon & eggs for every venue you would switch off fairly quickly. 😆

Oh well, here is one of their small choices

I really don’t like the huge breakfast where they pile on stuff I don’t want such as grilled tomato, hash browns, or heaven forbid, black pudding. Here is a LINK to their price list.

Happy faces at Au Bon Pain

I used to go here 4 or 5 times a week as it is the perfect walking distance, 25 minutes.

Sadly in January 2017 it is closed, I really miss the smiling faces.

Queen Victoria pub

Soi 6 is one of the seediest streets in Pattaya, and does not look the best in the early morning. If you can get past this image they offer an excellent English breakfast for 99 Baht including tea or coffee.

My only criticism beside the rather smelly Soi 6, is they only give you one piece of toast, I wish they would keep the sausage & throw in an extra piece of toast.

Best Pattaya breakfast coffee service at Foodland

A huge supermarket chain throughout Thailand, always busy for breakfast due to the great value. About $2.80 for bacon & eggs with a tea or coffee. This branch is in Pattaya Klang or Centre Rd. Best Pattaya breakfast? Probably not but certainly the best value.

Great value for all the Pattaya Cheap Charlies. 🙂

Of course I have to include myself in that group.

A new branch has just opened at Terminal 21, the new shopping mall at the Dolphin roundabout.

Bon Cafe in Naklua Rd. Best Pattaya breakfast

Bon Cafe is a very good breakfast spot. Just under $8 AUD or 185 Baht you get this excellent meal including coffee & orange juice. 668/17-21, Moo 5 Soi 29.

La Baguette

Definitely a favourite spot, the best ham croissants in Pattaya. Sadly the coffee is not so good.

I am here three times each week, ham croissant & coffee for around $5.50. Their Latte is quite disappointing, no where near as nice as Coffee World or Starbucks, plus they have just replaced their cups with a smaller size yet still charge 110 Baht for it.

Breakfast including Latte 149 Baht or $4.25 USD but if you are looking for the best value Pattaya breakfast, I would suggest LK Soi 12, Retox Soi Honey or Bon Cafe in Naklua Rd.

Coffee Club

I’m the first to admit I’m a creature of habit, I walk for around 30 minutes every morning, have breakfast at one of three or four regular restaurants and catch up on all the news in the Bangkok Post.

Well today I thought I would try a new place so I went to the Coffee Club at Royal Garden shopping Mall. I am so glad I did because the breakfast was one of the best I have ever had in Pattaya.

Eggs Benedict

A classic breakfast enjoyed all over the world, in fact here at the Coffee Club it was world class. To clarify the food and coffee was exceptional however the price is rather high compared to what is considered normal in Pattaya. On September 1 2018 they opened a branch in my condo building Markland Beach Rd Pattaya, check out THIS LINK.

I regularly visit two branches, one is at Big C in 2nd Rd the other at the Bay on Beach Rd near Soi 6. Coffee & staff are always great as is the ham & cheese croissant.

The girls at the Bay gave me a candle. 🙂 Three of my breakfast preferences are friendly staff, good coffee & the Bangkok Post, Starbucks provides all 3. 🙂

Jasmines on Pattaya Klang

Between Beach Rd & 2nd Rd a very friendly cafe with nice food.

Jasmin’s is certainly worth a try.

Corner of 2nd rd & Soi 1 opposite Big C shopping mall. The Empress has excellent rooms at a reasonable price in a very good location. Book the the Sabai Empress here.

The Pullman hotel

Wongamat has a far nicer nicer beach than Pattaya, check out the Pullman Hotel. Their Beach club is a great bar with a happy hour every day from 5 to 7 pm. Excellent seafood buffet Friday & Saturday night. The Pullman is really a 3.5 star hotel in a 5 star location, & probably should not be in my Pattaya budget hotels section.

Here is a four star hotel for a three star price, around $60 pn right across the road from the beach. Book Discovery Beach Hotel here.

A-One hotel Beach Rd

This is a very popular hotel with 2 pools and a seafood buffet every night, however it is a little more upmarket than most Pattaya budget hotels. Fantastic location opposite the beach, book A-One hotel here.

Markland is beside the holiday Inn on Beach Road

Markland is a condo with 4 floors of hotel rooms, I would rate it 2.5 stars being a little generous as I actually live in the building. Ask for a room on the south side for the best view in Pattaya. Book Markland here.

Without a doubt this is the best view in Pattaya.

World famous Walking St.

Walking St is where tourists go to gawk at the passing parade. Hundreds of go go bars restaurants & girls, girls, girls, & lets not forget the Ladyboys. 😳 So if you are a single guy who wants good value budget hotels right in the action the Galaxy is the place for you. Only $40 pn & right above one of Pattaya’s best pole dancing clubs, Heaven Above. To get a great deal on your hotel have a look at these great deals.

The Gentlemen’s Club Soi Diamond.

The Gentlemen’s club is my favourite Go Go bar, great looking girls and friendly hosts Robbie & Hamish. I’m sure if you say David sent you they will buy you a drink. Update, the boys have sold the club to some Russian guys, still worth a visit however.

Billabong in LK Metro 1.5 star

One of the good value Pattaya budget hotels for single guys & only $25 pn is The Billabong in LK Metro. This area is the choice for local guys who don’t want to mix with all the Walking St tourists. 1.5 to 2 star in a great location for beer & go-go bars. book the Billabong hotel here.

Soi Buakow area

The Soi Buakow is a budget area and a very popular part of Pattaya, lots of bars & restaurants. The Sawasdee Siam is a two star hotel in the middle of the action. Book the Sawasdee here.
