FiveStarVagabond favourite photos taken over many years by me, David Herd. To many people they will be nothing special, however they are very special indeed to me. Sometimes it’s the image itself that appeals & other times it’s the memory of where I was at the time.
My number one Songkran photo taken in Pattaya. Each year a massive water fight is held to commemorate the new year. The downside is the hundreds of lives that are lost on the roads during the Seven days of madness.
I was in HCMC aka Saigonwhen approached by this little girl begging for money. I knew she would give it to her mother waiting nearby, & possibly the mother would have to hand it over to local gangsters. Consequently I filled a plate of food which she devoured rather quickly.
Pattaya life FiveStarVagabond 2017 photo blog covers the first 6 months of this year. No big travel plans except for visiting Australia in March & a couple of weekends in Bangkok.
This beautiful shot of North Pattaya includes the building where I live, just before the Holiday Inn.
This is not a travel blog just a personal photo collection from the 1st half of 2017.
Dave Elder & Hamish Elton
Two friends & I ding at Signature Steak & Seafood, sadly due to the slow down in Pattaya they closed their on January 31st.
Excellent steak at Signature.
I will be so sad to see this restaurant close.
A great casual restaurant for craft beer & hamburgers. From the left we have Matt, Jonathon, Hamish, Davis & Wayne.
Say no more, these are the best burgers in Pattaya.
They come in two sizes. small at B195 or large around B300.
Cloud over Koh Larn
Throughout my life I have lived in many places with a great view, however none come close to Pattaya bay.
And when you talk about sunsets
In my opinion the best I have ever seen are those from Markland my Pattaya condo.
Another special treat in Pattaya
Four or 5 times a week I enjoy reading my Kindle while having an hour foot massage for B260 including 30% tip.
Two Aussie mates from the Gold Coast.
Nick Partridge rarely smiles in a photo. big Steve Reade always does. 🙂
We lost a great character & friend on January 23.
Larry Krausz, a friend for around 30 years suffered a major stroke on October 28. After 2 months in the Bangkok Pattaya hospital on life support he was transported to Australia by a hospital Leer jet, thanks to his Medibank travel insurance. After a further month his life support was removed & he passed away peacefully.
I wrote the following eulogy & posted it on his Facebook page.
Today we lost Lazzorghini, a one off Austrian designed party machine who thought too much over indulgence was never enough. Originally designed as a concept model it was soon discovered it was for too complex to ever be mass produced.
Powered by a big heart & steered through life’s many hazards by a gentle soul.
A rather over-engineered unit that needed regular maintenance after many long happy journeys through smoked filled dens of iniquity that continually promoted sex, drugs & rock &roll.
Often sat idle for weeks on end during the repair process before exploding back on the group one circuit, where it would function non stop for days, providing of course that adequate lubrication was orally administered.
Adored by a huge number of fans, family & friends our special Lazzorghini will be sadly missed.
RIP little buddy.
We gathered at the Atlantic bar to raise a glass & remember out great friend, RIP.
Here is one of the new Starbucks on Beach Rd near Soi 6, the other one is at Big C. I often have coffee & a ham & cheese croissant for breakfast.
Drinks at the Hilton Sky Bar.
With friends Wayne Crocker & Hamish Elton.
One of my favourite photos.
Taken on February 10th 2017 from in front of Markland Condo in North Pattaya.
My favourite time is early in the evening before the crowd arrives.
My new Skechers
You can buy them at the Skechers shop in Central Festival for B4,500, ($128 USD) or do what I do, purchase online from Lazada for B2,100. ($60 USD). 🙂
My favourite selfie
An overcast Friday morning in Pattaya did not stop this princess from going to the beach to take 100 selfies.
Taken March 24 2017.
It doesn’t get much better than this. 🙂
The other exciting event in March apart from the above was my 2 week trip to Australia which included a road trip from Surfers Paradise to Sydney stopping at Kingscliff, Yamba, Port Macquarie, Forster-Tuncurry, Gosford & Coogee. Also dropped into Maroubra which is a place I have not seen for over 50 years. Just click on the links to see my photo blogs.
Big Viv Kennelly & team
I took them to Leckerle in Naklua Soi 33 & they loved it. 🙂
You certainly don’t have to look far to find two of the roughest heads in Pattaya, there is a frightening similarity in looks between Sean Tucker& Pothole Martin, PH naturally plays the role of the evil twin.
Hamish goes to Koh Chang
A day swimming with the elephants.
Here is his lovely girlfriend Nitt.
She looks damn good on an elephant. 🙂
Dual birthday party
Matt & Jonathon & celebrated their 38th birthday one day apart in April. They celebrated with friends at a BBQ at Matt’s home in the back blockes of North Pattaya.
If Matt doesn’t stop reminding me about the Swans dismal 0/6 start to the season as opposed to the Crows undefeated 6/0, we probably won’t be able to continue being friends. 🙂 🙂 🙂
A terrific night
With lots of nice people & some gorgeous girls.
Talking about gorgeous girls
Here they are.
The star of the show.
There is never a dull moment when Bow has had a few drinks.
Matt pleading with Bow to behave. 🙂
Matt Harkness trying to convinceAlexius Alexaka Bow to behave herself at the party. The chances she will follow his instructions are very slim indeed.
Marina Bay Sands Singapore is an integrated resort fronting Marina Bay in Singapore. Developed by Las Vegas Sands, it is the world’s most expensive building, at US$ 5.7 billion, including the cost of the prime land.
Monday nights here there are lots of specials and the place gets really crowded. The guy in the red shirt is Alan’s Las Vegas friend Jay.
Two dozen oysters = two days food poisoning
I was totally out of it for 48 hours after eating these oysters on the beach.
The Evil eye
The look on his face should have warned me about eating his oysters. He even had madman printed on his cap. 🙂
The girl from Copacabana
I was relaxing on the beach when this vision appeared in front of me. I have never been one to let a golden opportunity pass so I brushed up on my social skills and introduced myself. Her name was Mel and she came from neighbouring Niteroi. Lo & behold within an hour we were in my apartment making mad passionate love. This certainly was one on the best days of my trip. 🙂
Mel from Niteroi
Mel is around 6′ tall with amazing green eyes, a total knock out. It is 2015 and I still have her photo on a shelf in my condo. 🙂
How about those fabulous eyes?
I have to admit the fact that Mel spoke no English did not bother me at all. 🙂
John, an Aussie guy who owned “The Office” restaurant.
John was an Aussie guy from Sydney and we swapped many stories about people we knew and knew of, mainly well known Sydney gangsters. 🙂 The following year John in fact was abducted by Brazilian gangsters who forced him to go to his home in Angra Dos Rios and pen his safe which they cleaned out.
Copacabana eye candy
One of the best locations on Earth for gorgeous females.
Late afternoon at Copacabana
Looking down from my apartment you can see the shadows staring to creep across the beach.
Kiosks on Copacabana
Every 50 meters along the beach there is a kiosk where you can buy a beer or a hamburger and watch the passing parade.
Copacabana Rio de Janeiro
Copacabana beach babes are among the sexiest girls in the world. My photo blogs with the most visits involve Brazilian babes so I thought I would add to the collection with samples from my 2 months in Rio from December 2007 to February 2008.
Making a splash
There is no better place in the world to see beautiful beach babes than Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro.
Hat, what hat, I don’t see a hat?
Now can you see a hat?
Is this a trick question? Who looks at hats on Copacabana beach?
The sea was angry that day my friends.
You don’t often see big waves at Copacabana but this particular day the surf was quite rough. In fact it was new years eve 2007 and Copacabana was preparing for a crowd of 2 million people.
Are you aware Brazil’s Primary colours are green and yellow? Just saying…………
Time for a lunch break
The prawns are very good however I was laid low for 48 hours after eating 2 dozen oysters on the beach. 🙂
Two pretty girls
All you need is a camera on Copacabana because the talent is unlimited. 🙂
Look closely you may see a tattoo
Tattoo? I don’t see a tattoo.
No tattoos here
A fabulous body like this does not need any tattoos.
Copacabana Rio de Janeiro
All my friends who know and love Rio will remember the wonderful times we had at “HELP” nightclub on Avenue Atlantica. Many thanks for visiting my Copacabana Rio de Janeiro photo blog, without any doubt in the world “you gotta love Rio”.
Exciting Soi Buakhao Pattaya is not just one of the main night life centres that is extremely popular with the locals. It also boasts of one of the cities best markets which opens Tuesdays & Fridays. Add to this a huge number of affordable restaurants, hotels & condos and you have one of the most exciting places in Pattaya to live or just to visit.
Soi Buakhao is a two way street that connects Central Pattaya Road and South Pattaya Road, the market is only 50 meters from South Pattaya Road.
Coffee shop & bar at the market
Send the wife shopping while you sit here and enjoy a cold beer. 🙂
Great smile at Soi Buakhao market
In case you didn’t realise that is a frog kebab above. I guess you will be rushing to get one soon. 🙂
Witherspoons pub & restaurant
Typical Pattaya pub & restaurant with lots of TV screens and serving good cheap food.
There are many low cost hotels in this area, for a good rate use this link.I have several friends who stay at the Sutus court which is almost next door to Witherspoons, great value currently at $22 per night.
Cosy little bar in Soi Buakhao, here Hamish and Andrew enjoy a cold beer or two. Andrew with the tattoos is the new owner.
Cafe Pitini Soi Buakhao
This nice cafe is opposite mates bar, I think Andrew eats there 6 days a week. 🙂
Cafe Pitini breakfast
They serve a very good breakfast for around $4 usd and lucky for me have provide the Bangkok Post to read. 🙂
Exciting Soi Buakhao Pattaya
Some people may find it exciting to be nearly knocked over by a 183 centimetre LadyBoywalking along Soi Buakhao but not me. 🙂 Apologies for the blurred photo but I guess my hand was shaking a little out of fear of being accosted. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Corner of Soi Buakhao & Soi Lengkee
My mistake I think this is one street north of Lenkee.
Pook bar closed in mid 2014. It used to be located on Soi Buakhao in Pattaya, Thailand. In its day it was the largest and best known ladyboy bar in the city. The same owner has a Pook Bar in Soi 6.
Sabai Wing Soi 1, 3 swimming pools and nice rooms, 100 meters from BigC, great value at only $23 usd per night as of August 15. I live in the high-rise in the background, Markland. For a great room rate book here.
I said au revoir to Brazil where it was 35 degrees and flew to Paris to be greeted by a temperature of 3 degrees,
My Sydney friends

Aquarium of the Bay.
Aquarium of the Bay is a public aquarium located at Embarcadero and Beach Street, at the edge of Pier 39 in San Francisco, California. The Aquarium is focused on local aquatic animals from the San Francisco Bay and neighbouring waters.
The Architectural District (also known as Old Miami Beach Historic District, and the more popular term, Miami Art Deco District) is a U.S. historic district (designated as such on May 14, 1979) located in the South Beach neighbourhood of Miami Beach, Florida. The district is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Sixth Street to the south, Alton Road to the west, the Collins Canal and Dade Boulevard to the north. It contains 960 historic buildings. In 1989, it was listed in A Guide to Florida’s Historic Architecture, published by the University of Florida Press.
Quintessential South Beach Miami
The fabulous art deco towers are unique examples of this form of architecture, they along the eight and a half mile stretch of Beach. All told there are twenty five towers guarding those who use the beach. At once functional and decorative, they contribute beautifully to the overall aesthetic of this Floridian resort city. A great example of Art Deco South Beach Miami.
The Sambadrome Marquês de Sapucaí is centre stage of Rio Carnival, the host venue of the annual parade of Samba Schools. It is important to note that Rio Carnival, popularized around the world as the greatest party on the planet,is about much more than drinking and partying. At its heart, Carnival is an exhilarating combination of competition and camaraderie as organizations called Samba Schools battle for the title of Rio Carnival Samba Parade Champions. For Cariocas, the local residents of Rio de Janeiro, is a time to show the world the product of a year’s worth of hard work and dedication. All the magic ofRio Carnival — the beats, songs, dances, floats and costumes — are the product of well-orchestrated machines called Samba Schools.
There are many reasons to love Copacabana, this is one of them. 🙂
Dave Sommer RIP
Two of my friends from 2005 are not with us anymore, Dave Sommer lived & worked in Sao Paulo, Sadly he was brutally murdered on January 11 2015. I remember the great day we spent together visiting the Samba school with his girlfriend, they were both preparing to participate in the parade.
Doug Roarke also passed away
Doug Roarke was a lovely guy who lived life to the max, after battling a long illness he passed away around 2007. Danielle was his gorgeous long time girlfriend in Rio. I remember sitting in a bar in Rio Di Janeiro with Dave Wylie & Doug Roarke, (RIP) and when I asked what was their favourite place in Brazil, Doug briefly considered the question before saying “Praia de Pipa”. Until that moment I had never heard of the place, but on Doug’s recommendation I planned my trip. Pipa Beach quickly became one of my favourite places in the world.
My lovely travelling companion Simone Cristina Oliveira was living in Uberlândia in Minas Gerais at the time, she now works at a bank in Sao Paulo, after all these years we still keep in touch on Facebook.
The coast around Pipa.
Towns built on sandy soil.
Low tide at Pipa
Low tide and the children play.
Happy hour? In Pipa it’s always happy hour.
Local Pipa bar.
Morro do Careca (Bald Hill) Ponta Negra.
Ponta Negra is close to Natal about 80 kilometres from Pipa.
The beautiful city of Olinda.
Olinda is a city in the north-eastern Brazilian state of Pernambuco. It hosts one of Brazil’s most famous carnivals and is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO due to its XVI and XVII-century buildings. Many bars, restaurants, artist and craftspeople studios add charm to the old-town setting. Olinda is just across the river from Recife.
My friend Simone & her cousin Pedro
Sightseeing in Olinda.
A big modern city in the north east corner of Brazil, Recife is the fifth-largest metropolitan area in the country with 3,743,854 inhabitants.
Porto de Galinhas
The origin of the name is well known. Porto de Galinhas means “Port of Chickens” in Portuguese. In the second half of the 19th century, the Brazilian government imposed restrictions to the commerce of slaves, which were widely used as manpower in the sugarcane farms around Recife to circumvent the prohibition, the “black ships” (which transported slaves from Africa to Brazil) looked for other places to harbor, far from Recife. One such place was in the bays around Suape and Ipojuca, about 60 km to the South ofRecife. When a ship arrived in town, as it was prohibited to mention slavery, the word spread as “there are new chickens in the port”; hence, the place gained its name Porto de Galinhas.
Farewell Brazil, hello Paris, as I said earlier Brazil was 35 degrees and I flew to Paris to be greeted by a temperature of 3 degrees. Here is my friend Malvina who I originally met in 1999 in Mexico City.
Dinner with Australian friends
I met up with Gavin & Cheryl Kernot in Paris and we spent a few days wining and dining. Cheryl was a very well known Australian politician who enjoyed red wine from Bordeaux almost as much as I. 🙂
Did I mention how bloody cold it was in Paris? 🙂
What a shock 3 degrees after enjoying 35 degrees in Brazil.
Hi David, where have you been? Your car is waiting.
Greg Clee at Heaven Above in Walking St
Greg is an Aussie who is the major shareholder in Heaven Above go go bar, always has a good venue for young go go dancers. Coincidentally when I moved to Thailand in 2011 we lived in adjacent apartments at Markland Condo in Beach Rd.
A breastaurant is a restaurant that has sexual undertones, most commonly in the form of large-breasted, skimpily-dressed waitresses and barmaids and double-entendre brand name. The term dates from at least the early 1990s, around the time that the restaurant chain Hootersbecame popular in America It has since been copied by other restaurants offering similar services, such as Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery (dubbed “Hooters goes to Scotland”), Twin Peaks, Bombshells, Bone Daddy’s, Ojos Locos, Bikinis Sports Bar & Grill,Show-Me’s, Brick House Tavern, Mugs & Jugs and Heart Attack Grill.
Based in Tempe, AZ, Tilted Kiltfirst opened in 2003 as a contemporary Celtic-themed sports pub. Its tagline: “A Cold Beer Never Looked So Good.” With 90 restaurants in the U.S. and Canada, the chain serves fish & chips and shepherd’s pie as well as burgers; it has 44 beers on tap. Servers wear mini-kilts made of an original tartan plaid and the Tilted Kilt is now recruiting male bartenders. In 2011 the chain had annual sales of $124 million, reflecting growth of 33 percent, according to Technomic.
With servers who show a “hint of sass” and a “girl-next-door image,” Twin Peaks sprang up in 2005 in Texas and now has 23 locations. The award-winning chain in 2011 was named Franchisee of the Year by the International Franchise Association and stresses its “hearty made-from-scratch comfort food.” It plans to open 25 franchised and corporate locations in 2014.
With 6 locations in Texas, this chain boldly claims that its food, including its juke joint-sliced brisket and its “smokin’ pulled pork,” is “the other reason you’re here.” Bone Daddy’s restaurants made an average of $5 million each in sales in 2011 and are company-owned, with no plans to franchise. Originally calling itself “the Hooters of barbecue,” it was recently named one of the 100 best barbecue restaurants in the U.S. Personally I love this shot, these beautiful girls look far more natural than the Hooters air brushed specials. 🙂
Who said breastaurants serve only red meat? Launched in 2002, Cowgirls Espresso, with 15 locations in the greater Seattle/Tacoma area, serves lattes, mochas, and its “famous 32-ounce Buckin’ Bronco” (4 espresso shots in 32 ounces of a cold beverage), which is “guaranteed to put the starch back in the ol’ blue jeans.” The restaurant dishes out pastries and treats, too, and, in summertime, iced Italian soda.
Located in Clearwater, Florida, Mugs ‘N Jugs says its claim to fame is its “huge award-winning wings” and its other great sports bar fare. It offers karaoke most nights, while sports occupy its flatscreen TVs; a game room offers another entertainment outlet. Here’s a surprise: Tuesday night is family night; kids under 12 eat free with the purchase of a $6.99 adult entree.
Last bit not least in our Seven sexy American restaurants segment. The Lone Star State is home to Bikinis Sports Bar & Grill, begun in 2006 and owned by Austin-based ATX Brands. “I’m very optimistic about the segment,” CEO Doug Guller told Nation’s Restaurant News last year. “There’s a lot of competition as the breastaurant industry has seen success over the last 5 to 10 years. It’s a somewhat recession-resilient industry. I don’t think food, booze, sports or sex are going to die anytime soon.” The chain trademarked the “breastaurant”term and a couple of years ago bought a ghost town not far from Austin, boldly renaming it “Bikinis, Texas.”
Sexy Cherry Bar babes Pattaya, I have been studying them closely for over a decade. This bar on the corner of 2nd Rd & Soi 3 Pattaya has been my local watering hole since 2003.
And so this is Xmas
I have been living in Pattaya since October 2011 but I have been coming here for 34 years. Nothing stays the same & neither does the Cherry Bar, over the years there have been some incredibly beautiful girls pass through here. Sadly not as many in 2015. 🙂
Why do I like it so much?
Well apart from the many beautiful girls that have passed through there, being on a busy corner allows me to watch the passing parade while enjoying an evening drink. At the other end of this complex is another very good bar which has just become 50% larger, the Atlantic Bar.
View from The Cherry Bar
This was the view from where I sit about 3 years ago, it’s not quite as good now as you will see further on.
OK, back to the sexy girls
Flashback to 2003, the first year I started drinking at the Cherry Bar. One of the many sexy Cherry Bar girls.
Dah from 2003
What a knockout smile.
Mai & Oay in 2012, terrific smiles
Mai is a sweet girl who gave up her job a a Honda sales person in Bangkok to work at the Cherry Bar, she has since moved across the road to Honey 2, the soapy massage parlor. Oay on the other hand is a tall glamorous high maintenance girl who is never without a Farang throwing money at her.
Oay is certainly a knockout
Last I heard she found a sponsor and quit the bar scene.
On November 6th all charges were dropped and Joergen flew to Pattaya for a couple of weeks before heading home to Melbourne on December 10. He is a very lucky man.
Daryl Evans & Heine from Airlie Beach in Australia, 2004.
The bar has always been a great place to meet friends from Australia, this is from February 2004, Daryl on the left now lives in Pattaya at Markland where I also live.
July 2003 , Jan in the white became my favourite girl.
Over the next seven years Jan was my number one favourite girl, so beautiful with a smile to die for. When I talk about Sexy Cherry Bar girls, Jan was the best.
Easy to see why
More of beautiful Jan
Top is 2003 & the rest are 2008 & 2009.
Do you agree Jan is absolutely beautiful?
This was November 2008, I could publish an entire post on Jan but I guess I have to move along.
Jan visits Cherry in 2012 pregnant with 3rd child.
I’m betting raising 3 children is not as much fun as working at the Cherry bar. 🙂
Anne & Om in October 2011. Sadly about 1 year later Om passed away after a short illness, I really miss her smiling face.
I wanted to hang this on the wall at the Cherry bar in memory of Om, but because of Thai tradition & culture they would not let me.
Dressing up for Loi Krathong
Loi Krathong is a festival celebrated annually throughout Thailand and certain parts of Laos and Burma (in Shan State). The name could be translated as “to float a basket”, and comes from the tradition of making krathong or buoyant, decorated baskets, which are then floated on a river.Loi Krathongtakes place on the evening of the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar. In the western calendar this usually falls in November. On the night of the full moon, Thais launch their krathong on a river, canal or a pond, making a wish as they do so. The festival may originate from an ancient ritual paying respect to the water spirits. Government offices, corporations and other organizations bring large decorated krathongs. There are competitions for the best such krathong. A beauty contest is a regular feature and fireworks have become common in recent years.
Sabai Wing Soi 1, 3 swimming pools and nice rooms, 100 meters from BigC, great value at only $23 usd per night as of August 15. I live in the high-rise in the background, Markland. For a great room rate book here.
Is it wrong to force your lovely niece to be a pole dancer in Pattaya, surely not? 🙂 I guess my niece can now be described as one of the Sexy Cherry Bar girls.
Doug from Newcastle and Geoff from Gosford
Both these guys love Thailand and visit many times each year.
A bunch of Aussies in April 2015
The names shall be withheld to protect the innocent.
Larry Krauszmoves from the Gold Coast Australia to Pattaya November 28 2015. Sadly one year later in December 2016 after spending 6 weeks in ICU due to a major stroke, he was flown back to Australia by the insurance company. The cost for the Leer Jet was $185,000 aud and the hospital over $300,000.
New friends December 28 2015
On the right is Jeff who is a friend of my cousin Vickie in Calgary, the other guy James saw me outside my condo in soi 1 and said “hi David” I know you from your Cape Town blog. Amazing that he recognised me in the street, so I now have another new friend, James from Pretoria. My fame is obviously spreading. 🙂
And the beat goes on
Here is Katie August 2016
A happy new addition at the Cherry Bar.
Gone baby gone!
Shock horror, September 1st 2016 and my beloved Cherry bar is no more. Purchased by the people who own Billabong in LK Metro they will rebuild a bigger and hopefully better bar. You can take away the bar but you will never be able to take away my wonderful memories.
Shock horror has turned into “you bloody beauty”. 🙂
It’s a new era as they say in the classics, today is Sunday September 25th and Billabong 2 opens it’s doors. Doors! what doors? I don’t see any doors.
Sing it for me Don.
Thanks for visiting my Sexy Cherry Bar babes Pattaya photo blog.
For an excellent budget hotel very close to Atlantic bar & Billabong 2 just book through THIS LINKfor a great rate.
Exciting life Pattaya David Herd 2013 was a total pleasure. January started with a bang when I spent NYE in Sydney, then mid January four English guys came to sample the delights of life in Thailand so naturally I played tour guide for them.
This is not a travel blog just a personal photo collection from 2013.
The boys from England
The guys all came from around Wiltshire and naturally loved Pattaya.
Travel highlights for 2013
The year started with a bang, literally. I spent NYE 2012 at my old condo block in Wrights Rd Drummoyne which is a perfect spot to watch the fireworks. It reminded me of my great escape on NYE 1981. Another nostalgic moment was a visit to Crescent ave Newport to visit the home of the late Tim Bristow where his long time partner Sue Ellis still lives, I of course also lived in Newport for 3 years from 1984 before moving to the Gold Coast.
January 1st I drove to Port Macquarie via Ettalong (where my family spent their annual holidays when I was young), to spend a few days with my brother Warren then on to the Gold Coast to catch up with friends.
In June I flew to England to visit my friend Alan who is a guest of Her Majesty, then his brother Bill Austin, Dave Catchpole & I took a road trip to Bruges & Versailles before winding up in Brighton on the south coast of England.
Every morning I walk along the & my camera is always with me, and I am always on the lookout for interesting shots, this is one of my favourites.
We lost a friend in January.
Here is my brother Warren & his friend Chris from Port Macquarie on the NSW coast with Dennis Freemongrel, Dennis & I were friends for 30 years before he turned nasty on me. 🙂 The lovely lady is Om who sadly passed away far too young, I miss her smiling face & often think about her.
Loi Krathongtakes place on the evening of the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar. In the western calendar this usually falls in November. Loi means ‘to float’, while krathong refers to the (usually) lotus-shaped container which floats on the water. Krathonghas no other meaning in Thai besides decorative floats, soLoi Krathongis very hard to translate, requiring a word describing what a Krathong looks like such as Floating Crown, Floating Boat, Floating Decoration. The traditional krathong are made from a slice of the trunk of a banana tree or a spider lily plant.
Desert at Froggy’s with Daryl Evans.
Froggy’s was one of our favourite restaurants in Pattaya, sadly it is now closed.
Robbie & Hamish at the Gentlemen’s club
A good club in Soi Diamond off Walking St run by two Aussie guys Robbie & Hamish, NEWS FLASH 30 September 2014, they just sold the club to some Russians.
Bangkok Go-Go Bars can be found in three areas, Patpong, Soi Cowboy & Nana Plaza. Patpong is where it all started many years ago. It has even been filmed in in a James Bond chase-sequence. Patpong has long since lost it’s title of number one for sexy shows Go-Go bars. Soi Cowboy & Nana Plaza now reign supreme.
John Martin aka Pothole & David Herd at Nana Plaza.
I have known John for 15 years, without a doubt he provides me with an enormous amount of entertainment, he would have to be the most dysfunctional person I have ever known. 😆

Bob & Greg from Australia
My exciting life in 2013 has been full of action, travel & fun, in January I was in Australia catching up with family & friends. In June I travelled to Bruges,Versailles,Brighton& London, rather than duplicate photos from those trips just click on the links to see my posts.
The Cherry bar is my local haunt on the corner of 2nd road & Soi 3, you will find me there 3about 4 times a week from 6.30 pm. The photo shows 3 guys from Australia, Lenny, Mervyn & my brother Warren, the lovely Thai lady is Merv’s new wife.
