Five Star Vagabond

Super travel tips, all road tested by David Herd. I'm an Australian guy who moved to Thailand in 2011 & still travel the world as often as possible.

Pattaya Luxury Five Star hotels

Five Luxury Star hotels in Pattaya.

Siam @ SiamSiam @ Siam is a Five Star Hotel

Pattaya Luxury Five Star hotels overlooking Pattaya beach are The Amari, The Holiday Inn The Hilton & the Dusit. Amari has the nicest grounds & pool area + the magnificent Mantra restaurant, the Hilton is above an upmarket shopping mall & is the most central, Holiday Inn has the best pizzas, the Dusit in North Pattaya has the best Dim Sum. 😉

The Beach Club at the Pullman Hotel.

Pattaya Five Star hotels Wongamat has a far nicer nicer beach than Pattaya, check out the Pullman Hotel. Their Beach club is a great bar with a happy hour every day from 5 to 7pm. Excellent seafood buffet Friday & Saturday night. The Pullman is really a 3.5 star hotel in a 5 star location, &  should not be in my budget section.

I believe they now have different themes each night.

The Dusit Hotel

Dusit Thani Pattaya

The luxury Dusit hotel is perched on the point at North Pattaya, lovely well kept gardens and loaded with old world charm. A special travel tip is to seek out the the Peak Chinese restaurant which is rather hard to find.  Perhaps that is why it is rarely crowded at lunch time when they serve the best Yum Cha in Pattaya. There is also a nice Italian restaurant called the Bay with views, you guessed it, overlooking the bay.  Book your hotel here for the guaranteed best price and choose when you wish to pay, now or when you check out. I also reviewed The Peak on TripAdvisor.

Pattaya Hilton hotel

The fabulous Pattaya Hilton Hotel.

Hilton Hotel Pattaya

Located at the center of Pattaya beach and perched on top of Central Festival, a world class shopping mall, the Hilton hotel has it all. Wonderful restaurants, amazing decor and a breathtaking view across the bay. This is definitely one of the best Pattaya Five Star Hotels.  Book the fabulous Hilton here.

The Amari Hotel

Amari hotel pattaya The Amari hotel is in a great location with beautiful grounds and excellent swimming pools. They also have the best restaurant in Pattaya, the magnificent Mantra.  This is one of my favourite Pattaya hotels, you can book it here.

Sunday brunch at the Mantra.

Pattaya Five Star hotels   I believe the Mantra Sunday brunch is the best value five star food in the world. Alaskan Crab, Oysters from France, New Zealand lamb cutlets, the list goes on. There are seven different kitchens offering food from all around the world. Cost is 1,700 Baht or $58, priceless.

Desert at the Mantra

Mantra desert Amari What a way to finish a great meal, that is of course if you are not counting calories.  🙄 I also put a review on TripAdvisor.

The Amari & Holiday Inn.

Amari hotel & Holiday Inn These two great Pattaya Five Star hotels are are the north end of Beach rd in Pattaya.

Holiday Inn

Holiday Inn Pattaya Situated on Beach rd north Pattaya next door to the Amari Hotel. The Holiday Inn serve wonderful wood fired pizzas in the courtyard, if you order before 5pm or any time Tuesday the pizzas are half price. Another nice feature is half price sandwiches, cakes and pies in the coffee shop off the foyer after 7pm at night. Book the Holiday Inn here.

Pizza at Holiday Inn.

Pattaya Five Star hotels The only time I have had a better pizza was 3 years ago in Florence with my friend Francesca. The wine I am enjoying is called “Kiss my Kangaroo”, can you believe that name? However it is surprisingly good and so is the Cuban music. My apologies for the poor quality photo. I also put a review on TripAdvisor.

The Royal Cliff Hotel.

Royal Cliff Hotel For a luxury hotel away from the maddening crowd you can’t go past the Royal Cliff. An elevator will take you down to Cosy beach where the water is clean and you can enjoy a massage on the beach. This is where I stayed on my first visit to Pattaya in 1980. This is definitely a five star hotel.

The Royal Cliff Hotel.

Royal Cliff Hotel The Royal Cliff is certainly on of Pattaya’s best hotels, very popular for conventions and has great ocean views. An elevator takes you down to Breezes restaurant and Cosy Beach. A little bit away from downtown Pattaya which many people prefer.

The Royal Cliff Hotel.

Royal Cliff Hotel   Royal Cliff Hotel,  opened in 1974 & was in fact  where I stayed on my first visit to Pattaya in 1980. Look closely and you will see the elevator that takes you down to Cosy beach.

Cape Dara in Wongamat.

Centara Grand Phratamnak Pattaya

Centara Grand Phratamnak

Located at the southern end of Pattaya at Phratamnak, a few steps from the beautiful beach, this five-star hotel is just 10 minutes from Pattaya city centre and less than two hours from Bangkok. Centara Grand Phratamnak features a stylish design with a dramatic marine themed lobby, Italian furnishings, and a pool and Jacuzzi on the rooftop. The hotel features 165 exquisitely appointed guestrooms, each including smart TV, Nespresso machines, a large balcony or terrace, delicate cotton bed sheets, in-room safe, and rain shower.

My lovely friend Amy has moved from the Mantra at the Amari hotel to the Centara Grand, I recently enjoyed their first Sunday seafood buffet which was outstanding.

Kantary Hotel, 2.5 hours north of Pattaya.

Kantary Hotel Kabinburi Kantary Hotel Kabinburi is rather special, particularly if you are a golfer. The standard of the hotel is fantastic & the golf package can’t be beat. For 3000 Baht or $90 usd, which sadly is now $104 aud, you get 2 18 hole rounds of golf on the magnificent Kabinburi Sport Club which proudly boasts of being the longest course in Thailand. Add to that one nights accommodation & breakfast included, makes this the best value golf package in Thailand. If that was not enough the three of us were all upgraded to a wonderful one bedroom suite which is the best hotel accommodation I have ever seen anywhere in the country.

My history, particularly over the last 30 years is dominated by overseas travel. I sold my home in Australia October 20th 2011 and have have been living in Thailand since then. I don’t know where the time has gone? It seems like you go to sleep one night, wake up the next morning, and 20 years have flashed by. Not sure how many years I have left, however I have enjoyed a wonderful charmed life, and if it all ended today I would leave this world with no regrets. I was born in Sydney halfway through the last century, started my travels in the 60s with the usual U.K. Europe adventure at the age of 20, back to Australia and worked in Sydney, Melbourne & Adelaide in Sales & Marketing with multinational companies including Sanyo, Canon & Remington. Engaged to be married 3 times and never quite made it to the alter, finally realized by the mid 90s I was not cut out for "long term relationships" so I moved to the Gold Coast in Queensland in January 1987, worked for a couple of banks as a Financial Planner, I took a year off work in 1998 to travel and never went back to full time work again, after 25 fun filled years on the Coast I packed up and moved to Thailand. What is the purpose of this blog? Well I really want to use it to record my travel experiences & to display my photographs, give and receive travel tips, comment on places I visit, restaurants I eat in and use it to replace the autobiography I intended to write, apart from all that it helps me fill in my day. :) I moved to Thailand mainly because I wanted to keep travelling while my health allowed me to, there are huge advantages being closer to all the places I want to visit. Cost of living in Thailand is around 35% of the cost in Australia, plus flights are 50% cheaper because you are much closer to everywhere. ???? Consequently I am able to travel to many more places compared to living in Australia. Having said all that, it is & has always been my intention to return to Australia when my travelling is finished, I predict this will happen around 2021.
