Zagreb Croatia bars restaurants

Zagreb Croatia bars restaurantsZagreb Croatia bars restaurants are everywhere, what really surprised me however is the amount of outdoor seating with large heaters to keep you warm. I arrived March 6th and it was freezing.

The cold days don’t seem to bother the locals in the outdoor bars.

Rugged up for evening drinks

photo IMG_7128.jpgThe overhead heaters are very warm indeed, the problem is my back was freezing. Another problem for me is they smoke inside the restaurants as well.

Statue of Petrica Kerempuh

photo IMG_7152.jpgStanding in a small square filled with flower stalls is a mischievous looking statue of Petrica Kerempuh, the work of sculptor Vanja Radauš. A much-loved character from Croatian literature, Petrica Kerempuh is a plebeian prophet, rascal and cynical commentator on contemporary events, a sort of predecessor of modern standup comedians. His most notable incarnation can be found in “The Ballads of Petrica Kerempuh” (1936), written by Croatia’s leading 20th-century writer Miroslav Krleža.

I actually had a terrible train trip to Budapest, I should have taken the bus. There were so many delays the journey took about 4 hours longer than it should have.
